Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, January 3, recap reveals that Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) made a sinister promise to Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) while Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) faced a shocking kiss revelation. Let’s discuss how all the DOOL drama went down.
First on Monday’s Days episode, Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) rang in the new year with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor).
After their countdown to midnight, Roman hoped he could hire Steve to find Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson).
Steve pointed out that Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) already hired him to find Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk), who might be holding Philip prisoner.
Steve assured Kate that he would do everything he could to bring Philip home to her if he was alive.
After Steve and Kayla left, Kate admitted to Roman that Steve wouldn’t find Philip. Kate came clean about Philip framing Brady for his own murder and how her priority was getting Philip some help.
Roman didn’t love the idea of letting people who loved Philip believe he was dead, but he agreed Philip needed help and was willing to keep Kate’s secret for her.
As for Kayla and Steve, they made their way to the townhouse and interrupted John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) romantic moment with Marlena.
Marlena felt she could never apologize enough for all the horrible things she did while possessed.
Kayla downplayed her own bump on the head and confessed she was more shocked by the kiss Marlena planted. Marlena was stunned to learn how all that played out when the devil transformed into Steve.
After Steve cracked a joke about whether Marlena and Kayla were just friends, Marlena decided it was good that they could indeed crack jokes now and move on.
For the first time in a long time, Marlena was relaxed and looking forward to the future. Steve echoed the idea and thanked God that the devil’s reign of terror was over.
At the pub, Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) assured Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) that she was truly done with EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).
Lucas worried about the possibility that he’d get his heart broken again, but Sami kissed him passionately and felt certain he was her soulmate.
Now that Sami had seen who EJ really was, she couldn’t unsee it.
Sami argued that she couldn’t love someone who would kidnap her and hold her captive for months.
Lucas had a guilty look on his face, so Sami wondered what was wrong. He managed to cover, but he grew uncomfortable over all Sami’s praise.
Lucas warned Sami not to make him out to be a saint, but she thought he was her rock and didn’t want to waste another minute.
That’s why Sami wanted to start their new life together by leaving town. Sami suggested moving to Europe before throwing out a couple other options. She didn’t really care where they went as long as she was with Lucas.
Sami eventually talked Lucas into it, so they shared the news of their reunion and big move soon after.
Kate was willing to be happy for Lucas and Sami if her son was happy. Roman also offered his approval as Sami and Lucas prepared to leave Salem the next day.
At the DiMera mansion, possessed Johnny continued primping himself in front of the mirror. The devil was eager to pick up right where he left off through Marlena’s grandson!
At one point, there was a flashback showing how the devil went into Johnny right after Marlena’s exorcism.
In the living room, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) grumbled about Johnny not making it down in time for a kiss at midnight.
After talking to Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold), Chanel decided to check on Johnny upstairs since he hadn’t been feeling well.
Chanel was taken aback to see Johnny’s look for the night, but she thought that suit was “fire” and seemed pleased.
Johnny was sorry for losing track of time and not making it downstairs for a midnight kiss, but he thought they could make their own fireworks now.
Johnny went a little overboard on the passion, but Chanel laughed it off before heading down to join Tripp and Allie downstairs.
Johnny paused for a moment looking confused – like the devil wasn’t in full control of him yet.
Once Johnny found Chanel, Tripp and Allie, there were more comments about his suit making quite a sartorial statement.
Johnny was apologetic for not making it down sooner and blamed how he’d been feeling on jet lag. He celebrated with the rest of the gang until Allie and Tripp decided it was time to go home.
Afterward on Monday’s Days episode, Johnny nearly keeled over during a private toast with Chanel.
Chanel thought maybe she should take Johnny to the ER, but he steadied himself and said he’d be fine. Chanel at least wanted Johnny to get up to bed, so he urged her to go ahead and vowed to be up in a minute.
Johnny once again seemed rather confused, but then the devil came out to play again.
With glowing eyes and a deepened voice, Johnny promised Stefano’s portrait that his “little Giovanni” was going to make him very proud this year!
