Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, March 21, reveals that Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) staged a fake fight to trick Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) while Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) declared the devil gone forever. Here’s how all Monday’s DOOL drama played out.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Chad flew into a rage over Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) asking him to take Leo to bed.
Sonny and Will tried to explain that Chad wouldn’t have to go all the way.
They just needed Chad to get in bed with Leo so they could send Craig Wesley (Kevin Spirtas) in.
Chad didn’t see why it should be his job to protect Craig, but Will pushed him to do this for Sonny.
After Sonny cried over Leo’s repeat scamming and how Leo was enjoying what this was doing to him, Chad realized this was about revenge.
That was something he could get behind as a DiMera, but Chad warned Will and Sonny that they owed him!
In the meantime, Abigail sought updates on Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) at the hospital and found Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) wrapping up a frustrating phone call.
The board was pushing Kayla to fire Marlena – particularly Dr. Seth Burns – but Kayla didn’t like all the threats about her own job being on the line.
Abigail also opened up to Kayla about her guilt over leaving the syringe behind for Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) to use on Sarah.
However, Kayla offered reassurance that what Sarah was going through wasn’t her fault.
At the pub on Monday’s Days episode, Craig worried that Leo wanted him to be a scheming weasel and objected to the idea of stealing Kayla’s job.
Leo acted like it wouldn’t be stealing if Kayla refused to fire Marlena like the hospital wanted. He suggested Kayla wasn’t doing her job well anyway.
Craig eventually came around on the suggestion and decided to seek out Dr. Seth Burns to perhaps put in a good word for him.
When Craig showed up at the hospital, he ran into Kayla and said he was hoping there might be a position open for him.
Kayla didn’t think they had anything that fell within Craig’s area of expertise, but he lied about being willing to start at the bottom.
That left Kayla looking rather suspicious.
Back with Chad, he called up Abigail and alluded to his Leo plans. After Abigail was filled in offscreen, she joined Chad in the town square and carried out a big charade.
Leo watched nearby as Abigail ranted about how Chad only lit up when he talked about his time in Phoenix with Leo Stark.
After Leo made his presence known, Abigail got an awkward introduction – and Chad made it a point to watch Leo as he walked away.
Once Leo was inside the Salem Inn on Monday’s Days episode, Abigail and Chad smiled over the first phase of the plot working.
At the DiMera mansion, Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) found out about Belle Brady’s (Martha Madison) possession from Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman).
Shawn insisted on seeing Belle, so Johnny went upstairs, too.
Belle kept muttering Johnny’s name, but Marlena and John Black (Drake Hogestyn) weren’t able to understand her hint.
Moments later, Shawn came in along with Johnny.
Johnny secretly touched Belle’s leg, so she woke up with glowing eyes and a deepened voice.
Belle warned Shawn to stop calling her Belle and seemed gleeful over all the deception.
Possessed Belle claimed she was the one who kissed Abigail, not EJ DiMera (Carson Boatman).
Johnny pretended to be outraged and tried to strangle Belle before Shawn and John pulled him off her.
That left Johnny apologetic before he ultimately stepped out of the bedroom.
Shawn and Marlena put their hands on John’s hand, which was holding the medal for protection.
They moved forward with the exorcism while Johnny put his hand on the door outside.
Johnny made the bed shake and papers fly so that it looked like a real exorcism.
When it was over, Belle woke up wondering what happened.
Marlena insisted that the devil was gone forever, but Johnny remained possessed and quite satisfied with his handiwork.
