Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) love life needs an overhaul, so is EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) her best option? Let’s consider Nicole’s tough situation and think about what’s ahead on DOOL.
Nicole married Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) to forget about her feelings for Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) since she thought she’d never have another chance with him.
It’s easy to see that Rafe and Nicole should’ve just remained friends.
Now Rafe is hurt, angry and doubting that he can ever really get past what happened.
There’s still hope for Nicole and Rafe to repair their friendship down the road, but romance is most definitely off the table.
Rafe warned Nicole not to come crawling back to him and will soon enter his own new romance with Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu), so Nicole needs a different love interest.
Sadly, Days seems committed to moving Nicole on from Eric, too – at least for a while. There was a definite sense of closure when Nicole told Eric goodbye.
Too much has happened now that Jada has aborted Eric’s baby, especially since he blames Nicole on some level.
Eric has gotten downright cruel to Nicole, so it’s best for these two to let go.
That brings us to EJ, who’s been nothing but supportive and generous to Nicole lately.
EJ seems genuinely thrilled to have Nicole and Holly Jonas (Elin Alexander) moving in the DiMera mansion with him.
It was sweet when EJ said he’d have the cook whip up a special dessert for Holly’s first night there. It’s little things like that that show EJ truly cares.
EJ is just being Nicole’s friend for now, but could this lead to a romantic reunion at some point?
It’s not like Nicole has a ton of love interest options on canvas – and EJ doesn’t have a ton of them either.
The show has struggled to find the right pairing for EJ with Dan Feuerriegel in the role since a recast naturally changes things a bit.
That said, Nicole works well with this version of EJ and could perhaps get another shot with him.
Of course, Days could always go in another direction or even cast someone new for Nicole, but it’s worth considering the idea of Nicole and EJ finding romantic bliss.
Nicole has also been helping EJ deal with the loss of Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk), so the relationship isn’t one-sided.
Will this friendship lead to a romantic reunion and give Nicole a path forward with EJ?
