Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 18, reveals that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) confronted Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) with the Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) mask while Stephanie Johnson’s (Abigail Klein) mystery PR client set off alarm bells for Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols). Here’s how all the Days drama played out.
At the Salem PD on Thursday’s DOOL episode, Rafe traded insults with Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) the “prolific ambulance chaser.”
Sloan demanded an immunity deal for Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), but Rafe rejected the idea and pushed Leo to offer his new evidence anyway.
Meanwhile, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) pushed Ava DiMera’s (Tamara Braun) buttons before eavesdropping on her conversation with Gwen at the DiMera mansion.
Gwen mentioned Leo being in police custody, but Ava hinted that Gwen might be guilty instead.
EJ listened as Ava talked about breaking Gwen out of prison the night Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) was killed.
After Gwen was gone, EJ confronted Ava with his new dirt and taunted her since he could go to the authorities unless she gave him a reason not to.
At the hospital, Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) patched up Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) hand and worried about him hurting himself again.
Chad assured Kayla that he was homicidal, not suicidal – and he wished Rafe would leave him alone with Leo for just five minutes.
Kayla reflected on her own experience with vengeful desires, but she had to let them go for Stephanie’s sake.
After Kayla pushed Chad to do the same for his own children, she encouraged him to talk to Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) about a grief support group.
At home, Steve put his gun away and explained to Stephanie that they’d begun using the security system again because of Orpheus (George DelHoyo).
Although Steve was glad to see his daughter, he suggested she’d be safer back in Seattle.
However, Stephanie had an important meeting with a potential client for her PR firm and acted like this could be a game-changer.
Steve was concerned when he learned the client had remained anonymous so far and thought it had to be Orpheus.
Stephanie figured Steve was being paranoid, but she caved when he insisted on going to the meeting with her.
Steve and Stephanie decided to pay Kayla a visit at the hospital first, so Stephanie greeted her mom with a hug.
Soon after on Thursday’s Days episode, Stephanie approached Chad to offer her condolences regarding Abigail – and he thanked her for the flowers she sent before.
In their hotel suite, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) came up with an elaborate plan to pose as plumbers and plant a bug to prove their Ava and Gwen theory. Sarah pumped the brakes since she saw the news about Leo and assumed they could be wrong.
Xander and Sarah eventually speculated that Gwen, Ava and Leo could’ve all been in on Abigail’s murder together.
After Sarah and Xander decided they should tell the cops what they knew, they crossed paths with Gwen on the way out of the Salem Inn.
That led to Sarah lashing out over the mask Gwen wore the night of Abigail’s death.
Moments later, Rafe appeared after Leo pointed him in the direction of incriminating proof.
Once Rafe cornered Gwen, he held up the Sarah mask and insisted she’d have to answer some questions about Abigail’s murder.
