Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, January 13, reveals that Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) called Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) with a cryptic offer after Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) ran a priest and nun con at the Italian convent. Here’s how all the DOOL action played out.
In the courtroom on Thursday’s Days episode, Belle Brady (Martha Madison) admitted that Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) convinced her EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) might be innocent.
EJ was grateful to Belle for taking his case, but he caused a stir by waiving his right to a jury trial.
Belle wasn’t happy about that, but she was still on board with helping EJ – though she was clear about this being HER defense strategy.
Although Belle requested a delay to properly prepare, the judge denied it and wanted to kick the trial off right away.
At the DiMera mansion, Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) arrived after being summoned by Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller), who offered updates on an older DiMera jet being used for nonofficial business.
The pilot suddenly quit after that flight, so Abigail suspected there had been a payoff – or else the guy knew to get out while the getting was good.
Abigail vowed to speak with the DiMera travel department again and see if the pilot left any contact info. She didn’t need Xander to do anything and just wanted to keep him in the loop, so she sent him on his way.
Afterward, Abigail found Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) in his office and asked if he knew anything about a DiMera pilot named Ned Grainger.
Chad recognized the name since Ned worked with them for years until last spring. He mentioned Ned had caused a headache for payroll since they were unable to locate him after his last paycheck was returned.
Chad also hinted that EJ might be innocent, but Abigail reminded him of the proof he’d uncovered. She grew concerned about Chad perjuring himself and insisted she would be at the trial to cover it for The Spectator.
Later, Chad arrived at the courthouse and swore to tell the truth before taking the stand.
In the town square, Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) vented about Abigail teaming up with Xander and being hot on Sarah Horton’s (Linsey Godfrey) trail.
Ava also opened up about her revenge plot against Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), which included getting two perps to say he set them up.
As Ava reminded Gwen this should stay between them, Xander appeared and questioned all the secrecy. Ava covered by claiming she was planning a surprise party for Rafe and took off.
That left Gwen to face Xander’s questions about how she knew Ava, but Gwen handled them like a lying pro.
Gwen wasn’t happy when Xander admitted there was a strong new lead in the case of Sarah’s disappearance.
Xander thought it was just a matter of time until they found Sarah, so Gwen looked uneasy.
At the Salem PD, Rafe told Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) about his latest crisis.
There were two complaints of Rafe planting evidence, so he thought that was odd to have two in one day – especially after not having any in all these years.
Shawn realized someone might’ve put the perps up to this and wondered if anyone would have a motive to target Rafe for revenge.
After Rafe brought up Duke the teddy bear’s decapitation, he considered the possibility that incident was connected to his current drama.
Ava interrupted briefly and offered to leave the food she brought for Rafe in his office.
Once Rafe was alone with Shawn, he admitted to having concerns about Ava and thinking she might be caught up in all this somehow. At the same time, Rafe struggled to imagine that Ava would want to destroy him.
In a hotel room, Kayla came out dressed as a nun and confessed to feeling like this was rather blasphemous.
Steve assured Kayla that it was for a noble cause and could help them get into the Italian convent where Kristen might be hiding.
After Steve donned his own getup as a priest, he was ready to go undercover with Kayla. “Let’s get this show on the road, Sister,” Steve said on Thursday’s Days episode.
At the convent, Steve approached Mother Superior (Ellen Crawford) with Kayla by his side.
Steve told a sob story about “Sister Mary Elizabeth” having nowhere else to go after her small parish on the Tuscan countryside was lost in a fire.
Steve hoped there’d be room for “Sister Mary Elizabeth,” so Mother Superior seemed hopeful and vowed to speak with the other nuns about it – that way “Sister Mary Elizabeth” wouldn’t have to cut her mission short.
Mother Superior vowed to be in touch with Steve, who gave her the fake name of “Father Nichols.”
Soon after Steve and Kayla left, Kristen came in wearing her own nun’s habit and expressed her gratitude to Mother Superior for letting her stay there.
Kristen also fished for info on who their visitors were and got a recap of what Mother Superior had been told.
After Mother Superior announced she was going to retire for the evening, she granted Kristen’s request to use her phone.
Kristen then called Ava and demanded to know if she sent “Patch” after her. Ava denied it and guessed that maybe Steve had decided to take Xander’s case since he wanted to find Sarah.
That was the last thing Kristen needed, but she grew intrigued when she heard Gwen was desperate to keep Xander off the trail.
Kristen could relate to Gwen’s fears about Xander leaving her for an ex.
Kristen decided that since Gwen and Ava had helped her, she was going to help them in return. When Ava asked how, Kristen simply told her that she’d find out!
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Kristen will indeed come through for Ava and Gwen, so stay tuned for another round of sneakiness.
