Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, January 20, reveals that EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) was found guilty and sent to jail while “Sarah Horton” (Linsey Godfrey) covered a Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) blunder she made with Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer). Let’s talk about how all the Days drama went down.
First on Thursday’s DOOL episode, Xander was relieved to see “Sarah” and pulled her into a hug.
However, “Sarah” ultimately pushed Xander away and called him a creep. She thought Xander could go now, but Xander refused to leave until he got some answers.
Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) wanted to prepare a room for “Sarah,” but she insisted she wasn’t sticking around.
“Sarah” acted like she had patients to get back to, but she refused to say where she’d been working and living in front of Xander.
Maggie made herself scarce so that Xander could talk to “Sarah” in private.
Xander couldn’t understand why “Sarah” seemed like a different person when she dumped him and still seemed like a different person now.
“Sarah” argued that she hated Xander for his role in the baby switch and wanted to go check out of the Salem Inn.
Xander was appalled over “Sarah” not even saying goodbye to Maggie and thought it was cruel to break her heart like this.
“Sarah” insisted she was sorry for hurting Maggie and added that’s why she came back. She told Xander to stop obsessing over her and go be with Gwen, so he asked how “Sarah” knew about Gwen.
“Sarah” covered by pretending Maggie told her right before Xander came in.
After Xander admitted he loved Gwen, “Sarah” said that was great and pushed him to go be with her.
Gwen then rushed out and left Xander looking pensive. Xander flashed back to his mutual marriage proposal with Sarah and gazed at a framed photo of her nearby.
At the pub, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) complained to Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) about a run-in with Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) and Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus).
Talk turned to Abigail teaming up with Xander to solve the Sarah mystery, which led to Kate’s recap of her Kristen crisis.
Kate mentioned how Kristen stuffed her in a giant suitcase while she impersonated her in town.
Soon after, Maggie arrived and admitted that Sarah came back – though she didn’t think Sarah was acting like herself.
Abigail later thought back to Kate and Xander’s comments about Kristen’s masks.
Abigail also recalled Maggie insisting Sarah wasn’t herself anymore, so she had a shocking realization and bailed on her drink with Kate.
In the town square, Abigail stopped “Sarah” aka Gwen in a mask as she was leaving the Salem Inn. “Sarah” acted like she was in a hurry, but Abigail wanted her to answer a question.
“You’re not really Sarah, are you?” Abigail asked.
Over with Gabi, she told Jake that guys hit on her all the time. Gabi argued that Johnny was just a kid and suggested she only wanted a real man like Jake.
Gabi and Jake still needed votes to put Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) on the DiMera board, which would pave the way to a DiMera takeover as well as one at Titan.
Since Johnny was in the position to offer his shares, Gabi thought she just had to flirt back and make him think she had the hots for him, too.
Gabi added that once they had Johnny on the hook, they didn’t want to lose him.
Jake seemed alarmed as he asked if Gabi was saying she’d sleep with Johnny to get the votes.
Gabi denied that and reassured Jake about their plans before heading to the DiMera mansion.
In the courtroom on Thursday’s Days episode, EJ went against Belle Brady’s (Martha Madison) advice and took the stand.
EJ told the judge that he’d never chloroform Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) or separate her from her children.
Once it was DA Melinda Trask’s (Tina Huang) turn to question EJ, she reminded him that he’d already chloroformed and kidnapped Sami in the past. Trask provided examples and left EJ flustered over his own violent history with Sami, so Belle struggled to do damage control during closing arguments.
At the DiMera mansion, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) told Johnny about EJ planting a kiss on Abigail against her will.
Johnny acted like maybe he was siding with the wrong DiMera and tried to get Chad to team up, but Chad was hesitant to trust him.
In a moment alone, Johnny’s voice deepened as he said he didn’t blame Chad for being cautious. After all, Chad was about to make a deal with the devil!
Later, Johnny came in from a session with his fencing instructor and was all sweaty from the workout.
Gabi wanted to discuss what a partnership between them might look like, so Johnny took his fencing jacket off. Shirtless Johnny thought it’d look something like this and started kissing Gabi passionately.
At the courthouse again, Chad showed up in hopes of watching EJ’s downfall. The judge came back with a speedy verdict and found EJ guilty.
Since EJ was a flight risk until sentencing, the judge ordered that he be remanded to Salem PD holding, where he would await transfer to Statesville.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say EJ’s situation will get worse before it gets better, so stay tuned to DOOL.
