Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, October 20, reveals Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) picked Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) as her new revenge partner while Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus) and Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) plotted a DiMera takeover.
At the hospital on Thursday’s Days episode, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) refused to give Xander a job since he already offered Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) one.
Jack didn’t want to make things uncomfortable for Gwen, but Xander assured his best mate that there were no hard feelings.
Although Jack offered to lend Xander money for his Salem Inn debt, Xander said he’d figure something out since he always did.
In Gwen’s room, she wondered what Ava was doing there in that getup, so Ava revealed that EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) banished her from Salem.
Ava admitted the fake marriage and shares situation offscreen, so Gwen reeled over the news.
After talk turned to Xander, Ava hoped Gwen wasn’t hung up on “that bozo.”
Gwen changed the subject back to Ava’s fraud, so Ava claimed Gabi took advantage of her grief.
Gwen thought Ava should take her problems to Gabi instead, but Ava argued that Gabi had problems of her own.
As for EJ, Ava wanted Gwen to help her get payback. Ava pushed Gwen to cozy up to EJ as part of her plan and was willing to beg.
Gwen insisted they were already even and refused to mess up the chance Jack had given her.
That said, Gwen was rooting for Ava and hoped she would indeed make EJ pay.
After Ava left, Jack returned to Gwen’s room and was ready to take her home.
Gwen thanked Jack for being there for her despite all the ways she’d disappointed him and vowed to make him proud this time.
Back with disguised Ava, she wondered who she’d get to help her now that Gwen had turned her down.
After overhearing Xander’s phone call about his massive debt, Ava smiled and said problem solved.
At Julie’s Place, Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) told Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) about EJ driving Ava out of town and confessed to punching him.
Tripp also talked about Li going to bat for him because of what happened in Hong Kong.
Wendy complained about Li still treating her like a little girl and thought maybe she should conform to the corporate world a bit more.
However, Tripp assured Wendy that she was amazing just the way she was.
The conversation shifted to Tripp and Joey Johnson (Tanner Stine) saving Wendy’s life over the summer.
Tripp talked about playing the knight in shining armor, which Wendy admitted she found hot.
Wendy took Tripp’s hand to examine his knuckles, so Tripp hinted that EJ wasn’t the only one he punched today.
Before Tripp could spill more, Joey arrived and pulled Wendy into a hug.
Since Wendy needed somewhere to stay, Joey invited her to come back to their parents’ townhouse with them and took her hand.
Tripp and Joey argued about which brother Wendy would bunk with, so she said she’d find her own place.
Wendy had work to do on Thursday’s DOOL episode, so she gave both Joey and Tripp a kiss on the cheek before sending them away.
At the pub, Tripp and Joey talked about Wendy’s awesome qualities as they playfully bickered over who she’d choose.
Joey proposed a toast to Wendy picking the best Johnson, so Tripp said he’d drink to that.
At DiMera Enterprises, EJ demanded to know what Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) was doing there, so Johnny covered with an apology.
Johnny claimed he was sorry for falling for Ava’s act and suggested he now saw that EJ was right.
EJ was skeptical, but Johnny insisted it was true and added that it was time for him to take his rightful place at DiMera Enterprises.
After Johnny asked what EJ was working on, he wanted the password to get on his father’s computer.
Once he thought for a moment, EJ said he was wrong and that Johnny was an artist who didn’t belong behind a desk.
Next, Johnny met with Wendy and told her about EJ catching him snooping, so she worried his dad was onto him.
Johnny assured Wendy there was no chance of that.
Meanwhile, EJ called the head of IT to personally oversee some updates.
After EJ ordered tighter security on all DiMera devices, he pointed out that you could never be too careful.
At the Salem Inn, Li found out that Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) personally delivered divorce papers to Gabi.
Since they weren’t signed yet, Li offered to serve as a witness for the signatures.
Stefan went first and handed the papers over to Gabi, who decided Stefan was dead to her now and that he had no heart.
Once Gabi signed along with Li as a witness, Stefan vowed to file the papers himself and make sure this marriage was permanently over.
After Stefan left, Li assured Gabi that he was just biding his time until he could get EJ and the other DiMeras out of the company.
Then, Li said it’d be just the two of them: Shin-Hernandez Enterprises.
Gabi wanted Hernandez-Shin Enterprises instead since she liked to be on top, so Li said he knew before they hit the sheets.
Once Gabi talked about Wendy’s earlier visit, she urged Li to reconsider hiring her in Salem.
Back with Wendy on Thursday’s Days episode, she was thrilled when Li texted her with a Salem job offer.
Johnny assumed they wouldn’t be working together anymore, but Wendy still wanted to know if Li and EJ got Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) to mess with Stefan’s head.
This new job put them one step closer to the truth according to Wendy.
In EJ’s office again, he learned Stefan just filed the divorce papers. As soon as the judge signed off, Stefan and Gabi’s marriage would officially be over.
EJ suggested Stefan must be over the moon since Gabi would soon be out of his life forever. Stefan tried to offer a smile, but he still seemed uneasy.
