Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, September 8, reveals that Ava DiMera (Tamara Braun) found Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) in the crypt, so the plan for a Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) memorial service went awry. Here’s how all the excitement played out on DOOL.
At DiMera Enterprises, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) gloated to Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) about the mistake she made in hiring Ava. EJ was convinced that Ava’s instability would backfire and still didn’t believe her marriage to Jake was legit.
Meanwhile, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) checked on Ava in her room at the DiMera mansion and heard about her new job. Ava was wary of interfering in Johnny and EJ’s relationship, but Johnny acted like EJ was the one causing problems.
Johnny also brought up how EJ had mentioned a memorial service for Jake in the crypt. Ava didn’t think EJ was serious, but Johnny thought they should really have one. Once Ava presumed this was to help her put Jake’s ghost to rest, she thanked Johnny for the gesture.
After bickering with Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) in the lab, Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) met up with Gabi and got updates on the latest EJ drama. Later, Gabi got Johnny’s call about Jake’s memorial service and wanted Li to attend by her side.
Li was pleased to know Gabi cared about him and eventually got down on one knee with an engagement ring. Gabi questioned what Li was doing, so he said he was asking her to marry him.
Next on Thursday’s Days episode, there was more tension as EJ taunted Ava over her hallucinations and bond with Johnny. EJ also heard that the memorial service was happening and suggested Johnny was just full of ideas.
Johnny chatted with Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) and Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) briefly before crossing paths with EJ, who gleefully acted like Ava might not be able to handle a memorial service.
In the town square, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) pushed Chloe Lane’s (Nadia Bjorlin) buttons too hard, so Chloe blurted out something about testifying at the custody hearing. Chloe brought Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) up to speed later, but she ultimately decided it’d be best not to take the stand.
In Dr. Rolf’s lab, Kristen barged in and demanded that Stefan be woken up immediately. Dr. Rolf was wary since he needed to do more programming cycles and couldn’t predict that Stefan would for sure love Chloe.
However, Kristen insisted on Stefan coming off sedation and eventually quizzed him once he was awake. Stefan was a bit confused, but he knew where he was and recognized Chloe’s name.
Kristen insisted Stefan had to go get the woman he loved back, so she put him in Jake’s suit and sent him to Chloe’s hotel room. Jake still seemed uncertain about his love for Chloe, so Dr. Rolf was on edge.
When Kristen showed up at Chloe’s suite later, she was surprised when Brady answered the door. That left Brady wondering if Kristen was expecting to see someone else.
Back with Stefan on Thursday’s Days episode, he entered the DiMera crypt and checked out his own memorial plaque. Ava arrived moments later and got emotional over another “Jake” sighting.
