Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 12, reveals that Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) chickened out of confessing to Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) while EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) struck a dangerous deal. Let’s talk about how all Wednesday’s DOOL action went down.
At the DiMera mansion, possessed Johnny told Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) portrait that he was just getting started, but he had to cover when EJ came in. Johnny then declared that EJ was right about Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) and about him running from his legacy.
Now Johnny realized that his place was there at DiMera Enterprises, not Hollywood. Johnny argued that someone had to take care of things for EJ if he landed in prison. He wanted to be the one to do that until EJ could reclaim the reins.
Johnny pushed EJ to sign over all his shares and give him power to fend off Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). He pushed EJ to have faith in his son, especially since he was all EJ had right now. EJ decided to get on board – but only if he indeed went to prison.
Johnny said he hoped it’d be a moot point and that EJ would walk free, but he was glad to lock in this deal anyway. He said EJ wouldn’t regret this and then gloated about his plan in private.
At DiMera Enterprises, Belle Brady (Martha Madison) spoke to Chad about EJ’s trial. After Chad admitted he was serving as a witness for the prosecution, Belle pointed out EJ could get eight to 10 years. If EJ was guilty of kidnapping Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), Belle thought he deserved that and more.
Outside the pub, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) caught Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) as she was about to go in. Ava invited Nicole to join them for breakfast, but Nicole acted like she was running late and would just pick up something from Sweet Bits instead.
Ava knew that was a lie and complained to Rafe at their table later. She said sometimes she feels like Nicole sees her as some overly possessive nutjob. Ava suggested that she knew Nicole and Rafe were just friends, so she didn’t think either one of them should suffer this separation anymore.
At Basic Black, Nicole read online about EJ’s upcoming trial before Belle showed up with some contracts. Belle mentioned turning down EJ’s case, but Nicole felt an innocent man was being railroaded.
Although Nicole hated EJ for dropping her like a hot potato, she felt like EJ was indeed being framed and that the person who set him up could get away with this. Nicole did her best to convince Belle to take the case and get EJ off the hook.
In front of Sweet Bits, DA Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) was annoyed over Sweet Bits being closed. She started to post an angry review online, but Tripp urged her not to since Chanel didn’t need any more grief right now.
In bed the morning after their hookup, Allie reeled over what happened last night. Chanel worried Allie was freaking out and figured it was weird for her since that was her first time being with a girl. Allie admitted that it felt natural and wonderful, but she couldn’t help thinking about Tripp.
Suddenly, Tripp called Allie’s phone, so she answered and said Chanel wasn’t feeling up to running the bakery today. Allie acted like she didn’t want to run Sweet Bits alone and lied that she was at home, so Tripp wanted to stop by and see her.
Allie lied again about being on her way out, but she vowed to catch up with Tripp later. Once Allie hung up, she declared herself the worst person on the planet. Allie felt horrible for cheating on her boyfriend, but Chanel pointed out she also cheated on her husband – not that Johnny “gives a damn.”
Allie felt sick and said she had to tell Tripp the truth, but Chanel urged her to stay quiet. She knew what happened between them was special, but she also knew Allie still loved Tripp. Chanel admitted to still loving Johnny despite what went down at the party and didn’t want to risk Tripp kicking Allie to the curb.
After Allie was dressed and ready to leave, Chanel confessed her fears that this would change things between them. She already lost her husband and didn’t want to lose her best friend too, but Allie promised that would never happen and gave Chanel a hug.
In the town square, Ava ran into Tripp and wanted to grab coffee as well as a muffin for him at Sweet Bits. When Ava learned it was closed following Chanel’s disastrous night, she grew concerned about the possibility of Ava and Chanel reconnecting.
Ava acted like their friendship could be a cover and didn’t want Tripp to get his heart broken, but he seemed to think her tirade was more about her own relationship with Rafe. Tripp felt like Allie chose him and was nothing but confident about being on solid ground.
At the Salem PD, DA Trask told Rafe that there had been multiple complaints about him planting evidence in cases. These were serious allegations that Trask needed to investigate, so she’d already sent the matter to internal affairs. A confused Rafe denied all guilt, so Trask hoped he was telling the truth for his sake.
Back at Basic Black, Ava wanted to have a conversation about what was going on between Nicole and Rafe. She acted like she’d been silly to be so insecure and didn’t see the need in them staying away from each other. Ava insisted on Nicole coming over for dinner, though she warned it might just be the two of them since Rafe never knows what might come at him at work.
At DiMera Enterprises again, Chad had a crisis of conscience and felt he had to tell the truth about setting EJ up. Kate didn’t want Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) to go down, so she did her best to talk Chad out of coming clean.
However, Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal Chad decided he could leave Lucas out of it and would take the blame for planting the proof. He hoped he could spin this, but he was willing to face consequences if need be and felt he had to confess in court.
At the hospital, Allie rushed off the elevator and over to Tripp. She nearly told Tripp what happened last night, but she ultimately bailed on the idea and said she had a long talk with Chanel. Allie claimed to realize she might be taking Tripp for granted, but he thought they were the “real deal” and that no words were necessary.
Back at the DiMera mansion on Wednesday’s Days episode, Chanel threw Johnny’s wedding ring at him and slammed her house keys down on the chessboard. She told Johnny he could go to hell, but Johnny told himself that he’d “been there, done that” as Chanel stormed out.
In court on Wednesday’s Days episode, DA Trask approached EJ and was looking forward to going up against him since he was representing himself. That’s when Belle came strutting in and announced she’d decided to take the case after all.
