Tonight’s episode begins with GG still in the hospital. Her condition is very serious. Her heart is ninety percent clogged and she needed a procedure to help her heartbeat normally again. With GG being in the hospital, her son Deon and his wife Karen explained to their children what was going on as best they could. They didn’t want to leave the kids in the dark because they’ve been in that position and they hated not knowing the truth. They told their kids as best as they could that GG’s health was concerning. They asked the kids to pray for their grandmother and some of the kids were scared. They were really close to GG. They didn’t want to lose her and so finding out she was going to get a balloon and having that explained to them had helped ease some of those fears.

But the procedure was later successful. Deon had been in the hospital to support his mother and he called his wife after it was over. He said everything was looking good. She, therefore, felt it was a good time to deliver other news. Karen is pregnant again. Her numbers are looking good for pregnancy and she was feeling well. There was no reason to believe she would miscarry. She did with her last pregnancy and she was still quite traumatized after all the miscarriages she’s experienced till this point. The one last season wasn’t her last one. It was just the most traumatizing because she thought she was done with having miscarriages.

At the time, Karen had felt that after having successful pregnancies back to back that there wouldn’t be a risk of a miscarriage again. Then she had one. It scared her when it happened and she is afraid of having another one. She has to take into account that she’s older now. Her chances of a successful pregnancy and labor go down with age. Karen also has to worry about her mindset. This pregnancy brought about a PTSD she hadn’t known she could experience and so telling the kids was a tough one for her. She and Deon felt they had to tell the kids because they might have overheard their conversation on the phone.

Only saying something so early in the pregnancy was considered a jinx. Karen was worried about announcing the pregnancy at only four weeks and so if Deon hadn’t been there to reassure her that the numbers really did look good – who knows how she would have felt or what the state of her PTSD would be in? Karen and Deon later told the kids about the new pregnancy. They didn’t know yet if they were having a single or multiples again and so all they said was that they going to have a baby. The kids took the news really well. They were all happy about a new baby. There were some that wanted it to be a girl and others who wanted more boys in the house

There was just one thing that could all agree on. They all knew they needed a new house. They had outgrown their current house and they had even been talking about moving to South Carolina but talks of moving were put on hold during GG’s medical crisis and they also held off on telling her the baby news until after she had been released from the hospital. GG hadn’t taken it well when they last told her they were pregnant. GG had asked at the time when would it be enough. What number of children are they willing to get to before it will be enough? They already have fourteen children. They didn’t need to have more and GG was never going to shy away from saying what she feels.

GG said something the last time for their last pregnancy. She actually went off on both Deon and Karen for wanting more kids in a house that was too small for them and on only one income. GG also said that she wasn’t getting any younger. She couldn’t help them with the kids like she used to or be able to run after a new fresh of toddlers. GG could barely handle the fourteen children now. It would kill her if she had to go through fourteen more. She said as much last time and then she made peace with her son and daughter-in-law after that pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage. And GG thought that would be the end of it only it wasn’t.

Neither Deon nor Karen forgot about her reaction. It’s why they dreaded telling her about the newest pregnancy. They were afraid she would react poorly again or tell them to stop having children when all they really want to hear is “congratulations”. Deon and Karen later decided to get it over and Deon went alone to tell his mom. He broke the news and she didn’t take it well. GG of course asked when will it be enough. It’s not like she can only buy birthday gifts or Christmas presents for the ones she wanted. She’s emotionally and financially invested in all of them. And Karen and Deon aren’t thinking about how their decision affects everyone else.

THE END
