In tonight’s East New York episode, Regina and the crew are outside a grocery store opening. They hear shots fired. Marvin enters to see a young woman who screams. She acts like a victim. But Marvin sees the blood on her sleeve. She is the shooter. She is taken in and asks for Crystal. Crystal heads to see her. The woman confesses to shooting her rapist.
Crystal informs Regina she knows the young woman and she was raped. The case was dropped because it was classified as acquittal rape. Meanwhile, Tommy is handed another investigation and he is already bogged down. The case involves a gun found at Brandy’s apartment.
Crystal and Tommy visit the victim in the hospital. Crystal thinks he is lying when he merely says he dated the suspect and that she was crazy. Andre and Brandy eat lunch and talk about their favorite sandwiches when they are approached by Tommy about his case at her building.
Regina is paid a visit by a detective wondering why Crystal is looking into a past rape. He doesn’t want to give her access because she has in the past insulted and critics SVU. Regina goes along with it, telling Jack she understands. She heads to tell Crystal she trusts her to dig through files.
A detective Tommy doesn’t like whose name is Desmond comes in. He now has a 60-day assignment at their precinct. Tommy isn’t happy. Crystal tells him to play nice. Tommy passes off his homicide case to Desmond.
Crystal and Tommy interview Antonio, the rape victim. She details how she learned where her attacker worked and how she secured a gun. She mentions a woman named Yolanda who helped her find her rapist.
Crystal and Tommy meet with Yolanda. She details Antonio’s suspect as a pervert who watched women on camera. They follow several leads and find another woman who may have been raped by him. She had to talk to her. They find her and ask her about her rape. Her case was dropped. She details a suspect who seems very similar to their suspect. They show her a photo and she IDs their man.
Brandy tells one of the women in her apartment building that she can help with the community garden. She also updates her that Tommy is working on a homicide connected to a gun found in their building located in an elevator shaft.
Regina, Tommy, and Crystal plan to pursue the rape case even if Jack is mad. After, Crystal is asked out by Desmond. She tells her maybe. Meanwhile, Desmond tells Brandy her neighbor had several domestic altercations with the victim, named Shoogey, who was killed by the gun they found.
That afternoon, Brandy visits with her neighbor and starts to pick up on a few things that make her neighbor look guilty. Regina and the crew also discover that their rape suspect may have done this to many more women than they knew. They head to the hospital and arrest him. Later, Crystal tells Antonio about her rapist and how she may not do time after all.
Brandy talks to Marvin about what she should do. He tells her she has all the answers she needs. Shoogey was a bad man. Desmond comes in. Brandy tells him she didn’t learn much from her neighbor. She wishes she could have helped.
Brandy and Andre work at the community garden. They talk. He thinks she made the right move. She kisses him. She loves his confidence. He kisses her back. Crystal is recognized for her hard work.
