In tonight’s FBI International episode, NYPD Detective Mark Douglas was found beaten up in Transnistria. He got into a fight with some thugs that ended in him getting tied up in addition to beaten up and thrown into the trunk of a car. But again this happened in Transnistria. It was considered the Wild West out there. The FBI didn’t have any contacts in the area. They didn’t have friends and the local police could be bought and paid for. Douglas got in trouble in the wrong city. He couldn’t have chosen a worse place and so Special Agent Forrester traveled there with his team to try get their fellow American out of the situation he was in. He warned his team to be cautious. They were to handle everything with care. And they flew to the country in the hopes of helping Douglas.
Douglas shot a man in Transnistria. The man he shot went on to die and so he was facing murder charges. Something that was going to cost him his job as well as possibly his life. Douglas originally flew to the country to be a part of the NYPD’s International Liaison Program and he was supposed to be looking for terrorists. He instead came across a human trafficking ring. He found out about this by carrying out an off the books investigation that no one else knew about. Not even his bosses. His direct boss also happened to be Douglas’s cousin. His cousin has been looking after him since Douglas fell apart after his wife died.
Douglas’s late wife was pregnant when she died in 9/11. He was the never the same after that and so this job was arranged for him so that he could finally start over. But then he found trouble again. Douglas said he was at the bar and that his badge had been showing and so he was approached. He claims he was approached by people who were looking to traffic girls through JFK. Douglas also kept mentioning one girl that was about to be moved. Her name is Sabina. He claims he had information to back up the secret investigation and that it was on his laptop hidden at his apartment.
Forrester went to the apartment with his team. They didn’t find the laptop. They instead came across a detective from the local police and he claims he didn’t find anything while looking. Something the team knew was a lie. They carried an investigation into the bar that Douglas mentioned and they found out women were being trafficked. They also found out that the woman that Douglas seemed fixated on saving was a dead ringer for his late wife. Its why he got so caught up. He thinks this is his second chance to save his wife and nothing will stop him and so the dirty cops in on the thing had tried rushing through his sentencing.
Douglas also died in custody. He was rushed to a hospital where he was saved and so a dirty cop made him an offer. They offered to look the other way while Douglas gets transferred back to the United States. Douglas’s cousin wanted them to take the offer. They instead told Douglas it was up to him and he wanted to stay. He didn’t want to leave without making sure that Sabina was alright. Forrester asked Douglas to put on a show in front of the dirty cop. They pretended that he agreed to get sent back home and that all they needed to do was clear it through the Americans. Forrester’s delaying tactic was enough to spook the dirty cop to directly contact the person controlling him.
The guy didn’t know that the Americans were listening in with technology left by the Germans. Forrester and his team gathered enough evidence to take down the dirty cop and before they did so – they made a guy an offer. They told him in exchange for working with them that he and his whole family can be relocated somewhere safer. All he had to do was flip on bosses. He took the offer and he helped take down the human trafficking. They captured the man making the calls. They told him if he cooperates that it will end better for him and then asked where Sabina. Sabina wasn’t with the girls they freed from the bar.
It turns out Sabina was never a victim. She was working with Florian to get information on Douglas and Douglas was so caught up in the fact that she looked like his ex-wife that he didn’t see it. Sabina wasn’t going to be arrested, but Forrester asked her to pretend that she had been freed so that Douglas would still have peace of mind. Sabina didn’t do it for free. She was paid a thousand dollars in her own money and so she put on a convincing act. And poor Douglas still fell for it.
But Forrester and his team made friends in the small country. They know that if they ever return that there were people there they could talk to. And Forrester also learned that his mother was tracking his movements.
THE END!
