In tonight’s Fire Country episode, Sharon’s kidney disease has progressed to Stage Four. She was in bad shape. She was in genuine danger of dying. Sharon knew this and her husband knew this, but they waited until tonight’s episode to break the news to Bode. Sharon told him. Vince couldn’t be with her when she broke the news because he was working back to back. He was still on shift when she went to go see Bode. Vince had to settle for being on the phone with them when Sharon broke the news. They both heard Bode asking what he could do. He wanted to know if he could donate his kidney. His mother told him she had to go through dialysis first before she needs a donor. And so she told him the one thing he could do for her – be on his best behavior.
Bode has a parole hearing in the next five and half months. He needed to be on his best. He needed to be almost perfect because the parole board wouldn’t release him unless they knew he had been at his best. Sharon asked Bode not to get into any more trouble and that was a problem because trouble was Bode’s specialty. There wasn’t a time when Bode wasn’t in trouble. Bode even managed to drag Manny into his mess. Bode later went to Manny to ask him if Manny could put in a good word to get him an early parole hearing. Bode wanted to be there for his mother as much as possible and prison was standing in the way of that.
But Manny said he wasn’t doing Bode any more favors. Bode has gotten into trouble numerous times and he should have been sent back to prison only Manny went to bat for him. Manny did this because he already knew about Sharon’s condition. Manny also mentioned he couldn’t keep doing that. He was done. His job was at risk and Bode’s Uncle Luke was sniffing around trying to get Sharon’s job and so Manny wasn’t going to make it any easier for the guy. Manny told Bode everything. He even mentioned Luke. Bode said his uncle would never turn against his fellow firefighter and that let Manny knew how out of the picture Bode has been.
Bode did get the picture that he wasn’t going to be so lucky. He was told to be on his best behavior and that was hard to do around Jake. Jake was Bode’s former best friend. He was also the guy who secretly dated Bode’s sister and cheated on her right before she died. Bode and Jake have butted heads several times since Bode has been back. Its gotten even worse when Jake found out that Bode was his friends with his girlfriend Gabriella. Jake has tried telling Gabriella not to be his friend. He’s tried telling Bode not to be her friend. Both of them weren’t getting it. They continued their friendship and Bode may have rubbed salt in the wound when he called Jake to talk about it.
Bode had called Jake because he wanted to tell him that he and Gabriella were just friends. Jake said of course they were because there’s nothing Bode can offer her. He was in prison after all. Anyways, the two guys got into a fight on the phone. They both said words they regretted and then Bode found out his mom was sick. He tried to stay on his best behavior. He did everything he was supposed to do. Then they got called to a rescue. Some woman went over a cliff because she was trying to take a selfie with her friend. It was the friend’s idea to stop there. She got an injured wrist and the other woman was at the bottom of the cliff with a bone poking out of her leg.
Jake was the chief firefighter on the scene. He ran it. He had the convicts clear the woods and he had Eve go down the cliff. The helicopter caused a wind tunnel affect. Eve became trapped ¾ of the way down. They had to cut her rope and she dislocated her shoulder in the fall. Eve then became trapped with Kristen. Two people had to go down there and personally assist them. Jake put himself in charge of that. He went down there. He went down there with Bode. They’ve done that sort of rock climbing all the time when they were younger. Jake knew that Bode could do it while he wasn’t too sure of everybody else.
Manny also warned Bode to listen to everything Jake said. The two men went down the cliff. They put the injured woman into one of those transport things and they tied Eve to them. They then were making the climb back up when their anchor began giving away. Manny and Gabriella were able to think quick on their feet. They secured the rope to the fire truck. It allowed the others to continue make that climb and everyone got back over. There was a moment in which Bode, Jake, and Eve reminisce about the good old days. They even laughed about it before they were reminded how things have changed.
Bode let it slip to the other two that his mother was sick. It was a good thing he broke the news because it wasn’t long before Sharon’s illness was all over the fire department. Vince told Sharon’s bosses that she needed to go on medical leave. He thought he was helping and the truth was that he might have cost Sharon her career. Sharon didn’t even know it was him. She thought it was Luke who spilled the beans. And Luke let her think that way because he didn’t want his brother getting in trouble.
And Gabriela later talked to Bode about his mom, but he told her that they couldn’t keep seeing each other. Even if they were just friends. He said he didn’t do want to do anything Jake wasn’t comfortable with. And he made peace with Jake and Eve not long after he said that.
THE END!
