General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, February 4, reveals that Mac Scorpio (John J. York) suffered a gunshot wound while Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) sobbed over an empty crib. Peter August (Wes Ramsey) managed to steal the baby and cause total panic, so here’s how Friday’s shocking show went down.
Just off Route 31, Mac and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) continued to investigate the transport van sabotage.
As the bright lights of an SUV appeared, Dante was attacked and knocked out. Mac was also ambushed as the situation took another dangerous turn.
At home, Brook Lynn made sure “Bailey Quartermaine” aka Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) was safe in her room.
Brook Lynn told “Bailey” to sleep well and added that her mommy loved her.
Once Brook Lynn joined Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) downstairs, they flirted and joked around before talk turned to the vow renewal.
Chase talked about how some people just belonged together and wished his own parents had been able to work things out.
Brook Lynn mentioned how some people have the kind of love you fight for, so Chase thought Brook Lynn deserved a love that strong.
Brook Lynn thought Chase should spare her since she knew how he really felt. She rushed out to the patio, so Chase followed her to get some answers.
Brook Lynn admitted to overhearing Chase trashing her to Dante, but Chase clarified that he was just trying to throw Dante off the trail.
Chase thought Brook Lynn was an amazing person, but they agreed they had to remain baby scheme partners and friends – though their body language suggested otherwise.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) worried the kiss Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) just planted was another diversion.
Maxie insisted she wanted to kiss Austin, but he was concerned about Maxie’s emotional state.
Austin acted like maybe Maxie befriended him because he was new and safe, but Maxie vehemently disagreed about Austin being safe at all.
Maxie had lived in constant fear around Austin and knew she should’ve stayed away like she intended.
Instead, Maxie was drawn to Austin because she felt something for him. She asked if she was alone in that, but Austin got a phone call about a work emergency and was forced to table their discussion.
At Charlie’s Pub, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) convinced Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) to patch things up with her.
Obrecht swore she’d keep Nina’s latest secret and got her to admit Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) troubling issues, which Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) didn’t seem to care about.
Liesl thought Nina didn’t try very hard to get through to Carly – and she assumed that was because Nina didn’t really want Carly and Sonny to reunite.
Nina acted like she didn’t want to break up a marriage, but Obrecht argued that marriages break up all the time.
If Sonny and Nina wanted each other, Liesl thought they should be together.
On The Haunted Star, Sonny was looking dapper and had a rose waiting for Carly. He thanked Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) for her help setting up his romantic gesture, so she wished Sonny luck before taking off.
Sonny kept waiting and waiting for Carly, but he told himself that she’d be there. He looked at the new wedding rings he had made and held out hope.
On the footbridge, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) bumped into Carly again, so they were both glad about it.
Carly wound up admitting she was stuck there – unable to make a decision about meeting Sonny.
Kristina eventually called Carly and insisted Sonny would be crushed if she didn’t show up.
Although Kristina wanted Carly to meet Sonny halfway, Carly couldn’t deal with this right now and hung up.
Afterward, Drew got updates on Sonny’s grand gesture and assured Carly that her feelings were justified since this wasn’t what she wanted.
At the same time, Drew thought Sonny was just being Sonny.
Drew also thought maybe tonight was a cry for help. He urged Carly to view this as throwing Sonny a lifeline rather than surrendering to an ultimatum.
Back on The Haunted Star, Kristina returned to break the news that Carly wasn’t coming.
Sonny determined that it was all over and that was that. He almost threw the rings into the harbor once he was alone, but he decided against it.
At Charlie’s Pub again, Liesl overheard Kristina’s phone call to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) about Sonny’s broken heart.
Once Obrecht found out Sonny was on The Haunted Star, she pushed Nina to go check on him. Later, Sonny was surprised by Nina’s arrival.
At GH, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) realized the prison transport was taking too long.
They assumed something was wrong since they had heard anything, so they took off to Route 31.
Meanwhile, Dante regained consciousness on the ground long enough to radio for help.
Dante said that officers were down with multiple injuries and passed out again.
When Anna arrived with Felicia, they saw the aftermath of the ambush.
The guard who’d been watching over Peter was dead, but Dante regained consciousness again and learned from Anna that Peter had escaped.
As for Felicia, she was horrified to discover Mac with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Paramedics arrived, but they had to get Mac stable before taking him to the hospital. Felicia was in tears as she urged Mac to hang in there.
Back with Dante, he learned Mac had been shot and explained what had gone down earlier with the van.
Anna insisted they had to find Peter and found out the van driver – who had apparently been in on the escape plot – was also dead. She assumed that was because Peter didn’t like loose ends.
At Maxie’s apartment, she came home and recapped the awkward Austin kiss drama to Sam McCall (Lindsay Hartley) and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson).
Austin ultimately called to tell Maxie about the shooting, which happened on the road to Pentonville.
Maxie put Austin on speakerphone, but he didn’t have many details yet.
All Austin knew was that there were multiple injured victims – including at least one cop – along with two fatalities.
Once Maxie made it to the hospital, she learned from Felicia that Mac had been shot.
Felicia said Mac lost a lot of blood and warned that this didn’t look good. While Felicia was visiting Mac, Austin told Maxie that Peter wasn’t dead and was still out there.
As for Sam, she found hospitalized Dante in a cubicle.
Sam was relieved to see Dante was OK and felt so lucky to have him in her life. Dante felt the same way, so he shared a kiss with Sam.
On the footbridge again, she decided Sonny should know she wasn’t closing the door on their marriage.
Carly was grateful for Drew’s help and hugged him before a phone call came in. Drew was alarmed as he asked what happened to Dante.
Back on the patio of their new place, Brook Lynn and Chase almost kissed.
They were interrupted with the news of Peter’s escape, so that sent Brook Lynn rushing upstairs with Chase not far behind.
Brook Lynn cried out in despair when she realized the crib was empty – and Peter could be seen elsewhere doting over Louise in her car seat.
General Hospital spoilers say Peter will cause even more turmoil, so stay tuned!
