General Hospital Spoilers: Friday, January 14 Recap – Kevin Restricts Esme’s Ryan Access – Sonny’s Outburst Stuns Michael & Dante

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, January 14, reveals that Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) restricted Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) access while Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) outburst stunned Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). Here’s how all Friday’s GH action played out.

At the Metro Court, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) spoke with Michael over the phone about her decision to stay in a suite for now.

Carly also had a conversation with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and reassured him since he felt like he was playing catch-up with Scout Cain (Ella Ramacieri).

Carly eventually admitted to having problems with Sonny and moving out because of them.

Drew felt like Carly just had to trust her instincts, so she smiled since Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) used to give her the same advice.

Carly felt she owed Drew an apology for getting so caught up in Jason’s return when he first came back.

Carly thought she should’ve paid more attention to Drew’s pain and been a better friend to him.

Drew insisted they were way past all that, so Carly was grateful for another chance to know him as Drew instead of Jason.

At Crimson, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) walked in on Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) discussion with Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) about her visitation rights as Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos’ (Viron Weaver) grandmother.

Martin advised against going along with Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) suggestion to give up her legal claim since Nina couldn’t undo it.

Although Martin thought he could win a court battle to obtain visits for Nina, he wondered if she really wanted to burn her last bridge with the Corinthos clan.

Ava agreed that wasn’t the way to go and offered her own guidance after Martin left. She acted like Sonny’s marriage was imploding, so all Nina had to do was wait and pick up the pieces.

Ava thought Nina had still a chance with Sonny, but not if she went up against Michael like this. She felt like if Nina played her cards right, she could have both Sonny AND Wiley.

Next, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) held a family meeting in her home and hoped Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) could make amends with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) before his prison stint began.

Esme walked in and wanted to be there for Spencer, but Kevin dragged her off for coffee and became concerned about her internship.

Esme kept bringing up Ryan, so Kevin wondered just how much time she was spending with his brother.

Esme acted like it wasn’t much and suggested she was just intrigued by Ryan’s case.

Kevin argued that if Esme saw the real Ryan, she would be terrified rather than intrigued.

Kevin hoped Esme would heed his warning – and in a moment alone, Kevin called the warden and announced that he wanted to restrict who had access to Ryan.

Over with Spencer again, he decided he was willing to accept Nikolas back into his life – but without Ava.

Since Spencer wouldn’t include Ava as part of the family picture, Nikolas was exasperated with his son. They made no progress, but Laura made it clear that these reconciliation attempt meetings would keep happening.

At one point, Laura also warned Spencer about Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) since she didn’t want him to fall prey to Victor’s manipulations.

However, Spencer argued that Victor had been good to him and obviously wasn’t concerned.

In Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) office, she got the Peter August (Wes Ramsey) poisoning details from Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) and worried about Selina Wu (Lydia Look) using this as leverage.

Dante showed up briefly to discuss Peter’s upcoming transfer to Pentonville’s infirmary with Britt.

After Dante left, Brad admitted he didn’t know how to distance himself from his aunt without creating offense. It troubled Brad since people who offended Selina Wu tended to disappear!

Britt acted like they could be a pretty formidable duo as well and decided she might have a way to help Brad deal with his Selina problem.

In the Corinthos kitchen, Michael lashed out at Sonny over Nina and the look on Carly’s face when the truth came out in court. That was something Michael just couldn’t forgive.

Michael was upset over Sonny costing them the case against Nina, so they both raised their voices as the argument escalated.

Dante arrived and sent the men to their corners moments later. Michael mentioned Carly’s decision to move out, but Dante tried to defend Sonny somewhat since it was a difficult situation.

Michael felt it was important for Sonny to do what Carly asked of him and take a step back.

Sonny had another outburst that caught Michael and Dante off guard, so Dante asked if his dad was OK.

After Sonny calmed himself down, he admitted he didn’t like waiting. That said, Sonny was willing to do it for Carly.

It’s clear that Sonny’s decision not to renew his lithium prescription is already affecting his behavior. As other GH news and updates emerge, we’ll keep you in the loop.

General Hospital spoilers say Sonny’s downward spiral could have terrible consequences, so stay tuned.
