General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, September 9, teases that Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) suspicions worried Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) while Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) revealed Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Chavez) secret to Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).
At Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) apartment, she assured Mac Scorpio (John J. York) that she wouldn’t feel threatened if Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) was his biological son and was confused about why he was reluctant to seek the truth.
After Maxie left, Mac admitted to Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) that he was wary of upending their peaceful life – especially when Cody was a stranger that they knew nothing about.
Felicia thought Mac should at least get to know Cody as a friend, though she would respect his decision on whether he wanted DNA proof.
At the hospital, Britt warned Cody about Mac asking questions and assumed this was about ruling him out as a suspect.
Cody feared he needed a lawyer and suggested maybe it’d be better to just get the heck out of dodge.
Britt thought that’d make Cody look like he had something to hide and eventually hinted she might miss him.
When Maxie arrived, she overheard Cody acting like Mac deserved a punch and defended her stepfather.
That led to Maxie privately telling Britt that maybe she was wrong. Maxie wasn’t so sure Britt should give Cody a second chance anymore.
Meanwhile, Cody made a phone call and hoped for another shot at making a good impression.
At the Port Charles Grill, Sonny quizzed Victor about the tension between Ava and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma).
Sonny also fished for info on Esme’s disappearance, but Victor wasn’t keen on answering anything.
However, Sonny made it clear that if Nikolas and Victor had anything to do with Ava’s stabbing, they’d have to answer to him.
After warning Victor to stay away from Avery Corinthos’ (Ava and Grace Scarola) mother, Sonny took off.
Back at GH, Nikolas was upset over being denied entrance to Ava’s room, but Trina was allowed to go in. Trina wondered why Ava didn’t want her husband around, but Ava dodged her questions and wanted to hear about the recent party.
Ava got updates on Spencer’s surprise arrival and weird behavior regarding the letter. After deciding Trina deserved the real story, Ava spilled how Spencer believed in her from the start and carried out a ruse.
Ava insisted that Spencer only pretended to be with Esme to prove Trina’s innocence.
Trina reeled over Spencer’s feelings for her and hoped to speak with him before he reported to Pentonville.
At the PCPD, Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse) took Spencer’s valuables and suggested it seemed like he had more to say to Trina at the party.
Spencer insisted things were done with Trina and that Rory didn’t have to worry.
Rory made it clear that he wasn’t worried at all, but he didn’t want Spencer haunting his romance with Trina from prison.
Afterward, Rory sought advice from Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) on how to get on Marcus Taggert’s (Réal Andrews) good side. Although Jordan thought Rory was overstepping a bit, she advised him to just be himself.
When Nikolas showed up, he shut down Jordan’s attempts to question him about Ava’s attack – though Jordan still wanted to set up an interview later.
Nikolas entered the interrogation room, where Spencer flew into a rage and threatened to tell the cops why Nik was fighting with Ava.
After learning that Ava was blocking Nikolas’ visits, Spencer acted like his father might be guilty.
Nikolas was appalled over Spencer implying that he was responsible for the stabbing.
Victor ultimately showed up, warned Spencer to keep quiet and urged Nikolas to leave as he tried to play peacemaker.
Just before Spencer’s Pentonville transport, he was disappointed since he thought more people would be there for him.
Later, Trina came running in the police station and realized she was too late.
At Pentonville, Spencer was in his orange jumpsuit as the doors of his cell slammed shut – leaving him looking lonely and miserable.
Back with Nikolas, he couldn’t believe Victor and Spencer thought he could be capable of attacking Ava.
Victor acted like anyone was capable of anything and thought the bigger problem was Sonny asking questions about Esme.
At the hospital again, Sonny checked in with Ava and got her gratitude for the security detail.
Ava claimed she didn’t know who her attacker was, but Sonny thought there was something she wasn’t telling him and questioned who they were really protecting her from.
At home with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) was surprised over a call from a neighbor who wanted to make an offer on his house.
Sam also talked to Dante about Cody and how he seemed like a good guy, but Dante warned that looks could be deceiving.
Although Sam felt that Dante loosened up around Cody, Dante pointed out that Sonny wasn’t the only one keeping an eye on his old buddy.
Now that Dante had a family to protect, he was clearly on guard.
General Hospital spoilers say Cody could make trouble for Dante and Sam eventually, so stay tuned.
