General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that a casting cut bloodbath could be brewing. A leak suggests a new round of shocking exits on one soap, so let’s talk about that and consider what it might mean for GH.
According to a blind item featured in SOD, one soap is indeed gearing up for another round of departures.
Several firings are happening – including the decision to let one star go who has been let go before. In other words, someone who came back after being fired is being fired once again.
Naturally, a blind item could apply to any of the four daytime dramas we have left, but there are good reasons to think this one might work for General Hospital specifically.
For starters, The Bold and the Beautiful never really does mass casting cuts.
They usually just let people fade into the background until they need them again. On the rare occasion when someone is actually written out, it’s usually just one person at a time.
The same goes for The Young and the Restless. It’s hard to imagine Y&R doing some massive casting overhaul where they send a bunch of people off canvas.
It just doesn’t fit with their typical pattern, and there aren’t that many extra cast Y&R members that’d make sense to write out right now anyway.
This blind item mentions ANOTHER round of exits, which means the applicable soap has done this sort of thing in recent months or years.
Days of Our Lives has been known to have casting cut bloodbaths, but General Hospital is certainly a possibility based on past departures, too.
GH fans will recall how Emme Rylan (ex-Lulu Spencer), Ashton Arbab (ex-Dev Cerci aka “Dev Corbin”), Mark Lawson (ex-Dustin Phillips) were all written out at once in late 2020.
The Floating Rib explosion sent Dev and Dustin to the grave while Lulu landed in a long-term coma.
William deVry’s (ex-Julian Jerome) exit wasn’t too far behind, so that was a substantial number of departures around the same time.
Of course, the most recent round of exits involved Steve Burton (ex-Jason Morgan) and Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jasper “Jax” Jacks), who got the boot for refusing to comply with ABC’s vaccine mandate.
GH always has an excessively large cast, so we won’t be surprised if they’re the soap with another round of exits in the works.
