General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Julian Jerome’s (William DeVry) return is needed in Port Charles, so should William deVry make a comeback or should the show perhaps recast? Let’s talk about Julian’s exit and what his future in Port Charles might look like if given the chance.
GH fans will recall how Julian met a grim end after a faceoff with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Julian was given a somewhat rare “dead-dead” exit since viewers actually saw his corpse zipped up in a body bag. Nevertheless, characters have come back from worse on a soap!
When it comes to popular characters and actors coming back on a show, all that really matters is getting them back on canvas.
People are usually willing to accept whatever wild explanation the show offers and take any illogical leaps they have to take.
If the payoff is someone’s return, then it’s well worth suspending disbelief for the sake of that.
It’s certainly possible that the show could do some lookalike situation and try to act like that wasn’t the real Julian. Mask tropes can sometimes come in handy in those types of cases!
However, a “dead-dead” exit does make it less likely that they would bring in a recast instead of William deVry’s version.
The character alone might not warrant jumping through hoops to let Julian make a comeback. GH could just start fresh with a new Julian-ish character if they picked a new actor.
Most viewers would want to see deVry back in the role anyway – and it seems like deVry is open to discussing some form of a Julian return based on his social media activity and comments at fan events. It’s just a matter of whether the show wants to make it happen.
There’d be some interesting storylines to pursue with Julian at the center of them. Kim Nero (last played by Tamara Braun) had a baby that was supposedly Julian’s, so that’d be something to explore.
It’d also be awesome to see Julian come face to face with Sonny once again!
A reunion between Julian and his sister Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) would also be great, so you never know what might happen down the road.
