General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) diagnosis will build to a big reveal, so fans will see that her buried trauma goes far beyond Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) and the tough loss she’s endured.
GH summer preview spoilers point to Liz getting her official diagnosis and clinging to it as an explanation.
Since Liz wants all this to be over, she’ll want to believe it’s as simple as her doctors are telling her.
Of course, Elizabeth will hope she can get the treatment she needs at Shadybrook and move past this chaotic chapter of her life.
Liz will believe it’s as easy as getting off sleeping pills and trying new therapy methods to truly cope with Franco’s death.
However, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) will sense that there’s more to the story.
We know that Finn will show up during Laura’s visit with Liz, so that could lead to another meltdown or at least some hint about the trauma that Liz has buried.
Regardless, there’s a good chance this situation somehow ties back to Liz’s father, Jeff Webber (Richard Dean Anderson).
Has Liz repressed some terrible memory that Jeff worked to protect her from?
Is that the real reason Liz’s parents shipped her off to live with her grandmother – to get away from any memory triggers?
There’s a shadowy mystery man who’s been telling Elizabeth not to forget him in her dreams, and she’s received that message in other forms, too.
It’s possible there’s some villain from Liz’s childhood that she’s worked to bury in her subconscious.
When Franco spoke to Liz through Chelsea Lam (Jen Ray), he also told Liz not to look away.
Franco wants Liz to tackle the pain head-on and finally find peace.
Although the loss of Franco certainly didn’t help, that wasn’t what truly kicked off this strange downward spiral for her.
There’s another reason for Liz’s behavior that’s buried further back, so Finn and Laura will work to figure out what that is.
Could that mean summoning Jeff and Carolyn Webber to town?
Laura or Finn might bring Liz’s parents into this in hopes of getting to the bottom of the mystery.
