General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) wake should bring a thaw for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). This broken couple will have a reason to come together and present a united front, so that could help Carly and Sonny on the road to healing their marriage.
GH fans know Luke is supposedly dead following a cable car crash in Austria. Luke’s remains were identified, and his personal effects were sent to a distraught Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot).
Of course, there’s no denying that this story seems a bit fishy, especially since sneaky Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) had a hand in Luke’s fate.
Everyone believed Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was dead for two years thanks to Victor and Peter August’s (Wes Ramsey) deception, so it’s reasonable to have doubts about whether Luke’s demise is the real deal!
Regardless, the people of Port Charles currently believe they’ve suffered a great loss, which is what matters for the next part of the story.
Tracy didn’t like the idea of some big funeral, but Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) piped up about how Luke would want his family and friends to gather for a wake.
Tracy was on board with that idea, so a wake should indeed take place.
It looks like it may happen on The Haunted Star – and it should offer a chance for Sonny and Carly to reconnect on some level.
Luke’s passing is happening on top of Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) death and the loss of Brando Corbin’s (Johnny Wactor) baby with Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson). That’s a lot of grief and a reason for “CarSon” to lean on each other.
Carly pushed Sonny away due to the secret he’d been keeping about Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), but that’ll matter less than Luke’s wake and coming together with the rest of PC to mourn.
Sonny and Carly could start inching toward reconciliation beforehand, but attending an event as a couple will take things a step further.
Even so, Sonny obviously isn’t over Nina and will perhaps always carry a piece of her in his heart.
That means more problems could be on the horizon for Carly and Sonny, but they’ll have this moment of peace and solidarity in the meantime.
