General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) could have a chemistry test brewing. This could be GH’s chance to ditch Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) romance that isn’t working, so let’s talk about that possibility.
Of course, it’s always going to be a matter of opinion when it comes to which couples work and which ones don’t.
Cody and Britt no doubt have some fans, but there are plenty of other viewers who find this pairing forced and annoying.
We get that sometimes opposites attract, but there’s absolutely nothing about Cody that Britt should find appealing at all.
The writers apparently think they’re doing some cute “enemies to lovers” story, but Cody is a lying slob who’s manipulating the situation, insulting Britt and ignoring her wishes.
Why should Britt have to put up with this, especially when she arguably has no chemistry with Cody?
Instead of just pairing Britt up with Cody because she doesn’t have a love interest, perhaps the show should work on finding better matches.
One way to fix this might involve a couple swap – and the potential for one is right there for the taking.
Maxie and Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) aren’t going to win any awards in the chemistry department either.
Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) also knows they aren’t a good match based on his algorithm – not to mention Austin is clearly keeping some huge secrets from Maxie.
After what happened with Peter August (Wes Ramsey), Maxie doesn’t need a man who can’t be honest with her.
Could the show be on the verge of breaking up Maxie and Austin with the intention of some new pairings?
Regardless, it’s worth noting that Britt and Austin have a nice vibe.
On social media, there have definitely been some fans rooting for Austin and Britt to become a couple, so why not let them?
Cody has proven to be an obnoxious character so far, but he might be easier to accept in a romance where he wasn’t so infuriating.
Maybe Cody needs a relationship where he actually gets along with the person he’s pursuing.
Maxie is a pretty agreeable person and will soon land in Cody’s orbit.
It turns out Maxie will try to play matchmaker for Britt and Cody during the week of July 25-29.
We’ll see Maxie offer some tips on how to charm Britt, but what if Cody is Maxie’s perfect match instead?
It’d be a great twist if Maxie played Cupid only to end up falling for Cody herself.
Right now, Britt and Cody still seem to be the pairing GH is going for, but that could change down the road.
That’s especially true since Maxie and Cody’s scenes could serve as a chemistry test.
If Cody and Maxie pass that chem test with flying colors, who knows what couple shakeups might happen in time?
