General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, August 22, reveals that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) faced a harsh death reality – and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) reflected on heartbreaking “Ben” aka Rocco Falconeri (Finn Francis Carr) memories.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) showed up to deliver a raffle prize courtesy of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for the picnic.
That gave Dex a chance to corner Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) alone and warn his plan might go down in flames.
After Dex explained why Sonny was angry with him, Michael admitted he selected Dex because of his past. Despite Dex’s concerns, Michael was certain that Dex stepping up to defend an abused family would work in his favor.
Meanwhile, Sonny invited Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) to attend the Quartermaine picnic as his guest, but she opted out since she was unwelcome and it’d be painful to be kept away from Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Viron Weaver).
Once Dex caught up with Sonny, he got another earful for lying about assaulting a superior officer. Sonny warned that Dex couldn’t withhold info again, but ultimately revealed that Dex wasn’t fired – at least not yet.
Back at the Quartermaine mansion, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) told Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) about Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) reluctance to move in with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).
After Brook Lynn and Olivia mentioned the Sicilian thunderbolt, Leo Falconeri (Easton Rocket Sweda) learned it was an old family recipe – a drink that would bring destined lovers together.
Later, Leo had the recipe card and vowed to help Dante as well as Sam.
At the hospital, Willow met with Britt, who recommended that she start chemotherapy right away. Willow wanted to delay her treatment until the second trimester since she couldn’t risk losing another child.
After Willow asked if Britt wanted children, Britt got uncomfortable and suggested they weren’t in her future. Willow thought Britt couldn’t understand as someone who didn’t want kids and hadn’t lost them.
Britt insisted it was her job to help Willow make an informed decision.
During their conversation, Britt made it clear that any delay in treatment could result in death. There was also no guarantee that Willow’s body would be able to carry the baby to term if she postponed chemo.
When asked about previous patients in similar situations, Britt admitted there was one a few years ago who delayed chemotherapy. Although the baby lived, the patient died.
Willow needed time to think, but Britt argued that was the one thing she didn’t have. That said, Britt insisted Willow didn’t have to go through this alone.
Willow decided she had to tell Michael about her leukemia diagnosis, so she found him later and prepared to drop the bomb.
As for Britt, she pulled up an old pic of when “Ben” aka Rocco was a baby and insisted he’d always be Ben to her.
Over with Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), she could tell TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) was trying to get rid of her during their chat at GH.
TJ was wary of Jordan crossing paths with Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett), who was coming in for an appointment and still had issues with her because of Tommy Ashford.
However, Jordan didn’t think avoiding Marshall any longer was the right call, especially since it seemed like he was in Port Charles to stay.
As they cozied up together in the Metro Court pool, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) kept dropping hints about his future with Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr).
Out of the pool later, Marshall asked Curtis whether he followed up on the whole genetic counseling thing.
Curtis admitted he hadn’t yet, but Portia noted that he was well past the age when schizophrenia signs typically first presented.
Curtis added that the only real reason to get tested was in case his future children might have it.
Once Marshall left, Portia questioned if Curtis wanted kids. Curtis acknowledged that he’d thought about it and suggested Trina would be a protective older sister.
Next, Curtis claimed to spot something in the pool and dove in after it. When Curtis popped up out of the water, he stunned Portia by revealing it was an engagement ring.
Back at the hospital, Marshall came looking for TJ and found him with Jordan.
After Jordan sent TJ on his way, she prepared to face Marshall’s wrath over Tommy. Marshall surprised Jordan by admitting he might’ve been responsible for Tommy’s death instead.
At Kelly’s, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) slammed Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) for hurting Trina with his lies and suggested all the Cassadine men were the same.
Spencer acted like Ava was a hypocrite since she was dishonest herself, so she seemed ready to hit him with a harsh truth.
Suddenly, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) appeared and stopped Ava from revealing that he slept with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) – for Ava’s own protection if nothing else.
Once Spencer was gone, Ava agreed to be a happy couple when she was out with Nikolas, but she wanted him to leave her alone behind closed doors. Ava started to leave for the gallery, but Nikolas insisted she was coming with him to the Quartermaine picnic.
Back with Spencer, he dropped by Britt’s office to apologize again. Spencer told Britt the whole truth about his scheme to trap Esme and was sorry for how he treated her before.
Britt assured Spencer they were cool, but she marveled over him not telling Trina the truth after everything he’d done for her. Nevertheless, Spencer argued that he never deserved Trina and that she should just forget about him.
By the Metro Court pool, Nina overheard TJ on a phone call to Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos). After Nina flashed back to witnessing TJ and Willow’s hug, she looked deep in thought.
General Hospital spoilers say Willow’s future will remain in jeopardy, so don’t miss what’s ahead.
