General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, January 10, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was short on meds while Carly Corinthos (Maurice Benard) slapped Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) and Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) passion was also interrupted, so let’s talk about how Monday’s action played out in Port Charles.
In the Corinthos kitchen, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) found Sonny as he was cleaning up his shattered glass. She noticed the liquor bottle and assumed Sonny had heard the news about Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), but he hadn’t yet.
Sonny hit the kitchen island in anger before embracing Laura as they talked through the loss.
After a chat about Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), talk eventually turned to Sonny’s marriage since he screwed up big time and wasn’t sure it could be fixed.
Laura got updates on the latest Nina details and tried to understand Sonny’s perspective. Sonny wanted to put Nixon Falls behind him, but he still had dreams about living there.
Now that both Nina and Carly were in the same place, it was hard to separate Sonny’s two lives.
After Laura offered some comfort and left, Sonny checked a voicemail about being out of lithium refills and needing to get a new prescription from Dr. Sullivan.
Sonny seemed annoyed as he went to delete the message and instead focused on Carly’s number
Meanwhile, Carly made it clear that Nina was going to be late to her meeting since they needed to talk.
Carly ranted about Nina being so far from the high road that she was under water and thought Nina wanted to keep her Nixon Falls romance a secret – that way she’d remain attached to Sonny.
Nina fired back that she wasn’t the one who drove Sonny to get falling-down drunk on New Year’s Eve.
Nina mentioned something about being there for Sonny, but she could tell from Carly’s reaction that this was brand-new information.
Nina pointed out that was something else Sonny chose not to tell Carly.
After Carly said Nina would always be a “conniving bitch,” Nina argued that Carly was an “idiot” for pushing Sonny away and made it clear that she definitely wouldn’t do that if Sonny came to her again.
Carly snarled that Sonny was never going back to Nina since what happened between them was an illusion.
When Carly asked if Nina slept with Sonny, Nina replied that she almost did. She clarified that it would’ve happened if she hadn’t stopped it.
Nina thought it would be a lie to act like nothing could ever happen again with Sonny, so Carly slapped her across the face.
Carly warned Nina to stay away from her husband and stormed out. Soon after, Carly paused outside to clasp her hand over her mouth and seemed overwhelmed.
At Laura and Kevin Collins’ (Jon Lindstrom) place, Esme looked at the pill bottle she got from the hospital. She told herself that if one was good, two must be better.
Esme then hid the pill bottle in her purse as Spencer came in. Spencer grumbled about bringing his dinner home from the Metro Court since he paid for it.
Spencer ranted to Esme about Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) throwing it in his face that she controlled his trust fund.
Esme wondered when Spencer was going to bring up Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) since she heard Trina was at the meeting.
However, Esme ultimately decided they should take advantage of having some privacy.
Spencer took his shirt off as things turned passionate on the sofa, but he was forced to get off Esme thanks to an unexpected arrival.
When shirtless Spencer opened the door, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) offered a “well, well” and seemed amused over what he had interrupted.
Spencer put his shirt back on before complaining to Victor about Ava and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma).
Victor had no use for Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) either, but Victor basically told Spencer to grow up and accept that he needed his family.
Victor told Spencer that women may come and go, but family is forever! When Laura returned later, she was unnerved to find Victor in her home.
While Victor dished out tough love, Trina caught Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) kissing on the elevator.
Trina was happy for the two of them, but Curtis made himself scarce so Trina and Portia could have some mother-daughter time.
Trina was struggling over whether to go on this trip since part of her was just trying to prove something to Esme.
Trina also felt like a fifth wheel, but she decided to go help Spencer make some good memories before his prison stint and try to have fun with her friends.
Portia heard about Trina’s meeting with Spencer and Ava, which helped Trina see the Ava that Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) had warned her about.
Trina didn’t like the way Ava seemed to enjoy making Spencer miserable.
At GH, TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) told Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) that he couldn’t get to know his family until he revealed who he really was.
After Curtis found Marshall with TJ later, he accused his father of being a stalker.
In a moment alone with his son, Marshall understood that if he didn’t want Curtis to walk away, he needed to give him answers.
Marshall finally seemed ready to come clean about his past and fill in some big gaps.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth “Liz” Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) tried to figure out how her wedding ring ended up in her locker.
They determined that one of the boys might’ve put it in her pocket – perhaps as a way of protesting her decision to move on from Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth).
Liz also considered that maybe one of her boys thought she simply forgot her ring and was helping her out.
Since Liz had so much uncertainty about all this, she chose to delay her dinner with Finn – though she promised it was only a postponement and that she was still looking forward to going out with him.
General Hospital spoilers say Liz and Finn still have a lot to figure out, so stay tuned.
