General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, May 16, reveals that Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) investigated Maggie the nanny while Stella Henry’s (Vernee Watson) buried secret stunned Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner).
At home, Curtis spoke to Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) before she dashed off to meet Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) for lunch. Stella arrived soon after since Curtis had summoned her to talk about Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) leaving town.
After Curtis mentioned digging into Marshall’s sealed records, he realized Stella knew far more than she’d been letting on. Stella finally came clean about knowing Marshall wasn’t dead after he abandoned his family.
Curtis lashed out over Stella lying to him all this time, so she admitted Curtis’ mother knew the truth as well. Although Stella hated all the deception, she felt she had to honor the wishes of Curtis’ parents.
Curtis eventually pulled crying Stella into a hug and reassured her of his love, but she couldn’t give him the answers he needed regarding why Marshall really faked his death. That was Marshall’s story to tell, so Curtis decided he’d have to find his father.
At Kelly’s, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) joined Trina as they awaited Portia’s arrival. Trina feared she would be expelled due to the info she received from PCU’s Title IX coordinator – though she knew she’d have far worse issues if she went to prison.
At Wyndemere, Spencer did an Internet search on Maggie in London and worked to find out more about Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) nanny. After Esme appeared with a clenched fist, she tried to rope Spencer into a picnic and a day of horseback riding.
Spencer turned Esme down and claimed he was covering an extra shift for someone at work. Once Spencer took off, Esme whined to Nikolas about Spencer and how everything they built was gone after one little argument.
Nikolas understood where Esme was coming from, so she apologized since her drama was nothing compared to what was going on in Nikolas’ marriage.
After Esme talked about how Nikolas rescued her from Sonny, she said she felt safe with Nik and touched his arm tenderly. Esme wished Ava could see Nikolas the way she saw him, so he asked what way that was.
Next, Portia bumped into Spencer outside Kelly’s and ran down the list of Trina’s problems – all of which were caused by Spencer and Esme. Ava eventually dragged Spencer inside for a confrontation while Trina thanked Portia for having her back.
Trina also admitted to receiving her Title IX report while Spencer made it clear that Ava had no authority over him outside the gallery.
After Trina reappeared, Ava took a raincheck on lunch at another restaurant. Spencer tried to apologize again, but Trina took off – and Ava remained livid since Spencer refused to leave that girl in peace!
At the school fair, Leo Quartermaine (Easton Rocket Sweda) was worried since he didn’t think he could recite his poem without Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) there to watch.
Chase thankfully showed up in the nick of time and promised to sing at Leo’s birthday party if he went through with his own performance. Leo ultimately got up on stage and imagined only Chase was in the audience like they talked about.
After Leo successfully recited the poem, Chase led the others in applauding for him. Leo was eager to head to Metro Court Gardens for his birthday bash, so he took off with Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) not far behind.
Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) also got updates over Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) offering to be there for Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) if she needed anything. It led to Michael barking that Willow would never need anything from Sonny as the tension between father and son remained.
Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) dropped a hint in private about things potentially escalating, so Sonny got the feeling that Dante was telling him to watch his back.
As for Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), he wasn’t happy with Michael and Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) COO offer – especially since they hinted that they might bring in someone with more media experience to help.
At the Metro Court Gardens, Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) quizzed Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) about her romance with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), but Anna suggested nothing much was happening.
After Valentin showed up, Anna stepped away for a phone call. That gave Felicia a chance to warn Valentin about facing her wrath if he hurt Anna.
Once Anna joined them at the table again, she revealed she’d just received more news on Jennifer Smith (Holly Gagnier). Although there was enough evidence to put Jennifer in prison for the rest of her life, Anna remained skeptical of her guilt.
There was talk about the French naval captain, so Valentin flashed back to when he duped Jennifer in French Polynesia. Valentin wound up trying to make plans for a night with Anna, but she played hard to get and acted like she’d have to check her dance card.
Once Ned got a phone call on Monday’s GH episode, he secretly met with Valentin to discuss the ELQ and Aurora Media merger.
Chase and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) also shared a nice moment ahead of Leo’s party, but someone spied on them from the bushes nearby.
