General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, May 9, reveals that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) investigated Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) past with comatose Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) while Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) played matchmaker. Let’s talk about how Monday’s action went down.
At GH, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) filled TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) in on the info he’d uncovered about Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) and refused to go after him.
TJ didn’t want to lose his grandfather, so he was determined to track Marshall down.
At the Metro Court Gardens, Carly and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) bickered about Nina.
Valentin wanted Carly to see how often Nina had been exploited in her lifetime and have some compassion.
Carly acted like Nina should just get over her hardships and ended up quizzing Valentin about Phyllis.
After Carly mentioned how Phyllis nursed Nina while she was in a coma and pregnant, she asked if Phyllis was there for the birth.
Valentin asked why on earth Carly would need to know that, so Carly acted like Phyllis might have a soft spot due to her role in Nelle Benson’s (Chloe Lanier) adoption.
As for why Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was so fascinated by Nina, Carly quipped that maybe it was Stockholm syndrome!
At Charlie’s Pub, Nina made it clear that she was willing to go after Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen).
Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) was surprised considering Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) just died, but Nina stood her ground.
After Ava mentioned Grant Smoltz (David Lautman) reaching out to her, she admitted it was about how Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) came into the world.
Ava reassured Nina that she hadn’t helped Smoltz with his story and quizzed her about her romance with Sonny next.
Amy Driscoll (Risa Dorken) showed up ranting about her problems with Terry Randolph (Cassandra James), so Nina pushed Amy to give herself some advice and think about what Man Landers would say.
At the Metro Court Gardens again, Chet Driscoll (Chris Van Etten) had a lovely date with Terry – and they confirmed they wanted another one.
However, things turned awkward when Chet realized Terry worked at GH.
Chet wondered if Terry knew his sister and said her name was Amy Driscoll, so Terry was left in an uncomfortable position.
Outside Charlie’s Pub, Amy ran into a coworker from the hospital and heard about Chet looking cozy with Terry at the Metro Court Gardens.
Back inside, Nina told Ava that Carly let her daughter fall to her death, so she wasn’t about to let Carly take her grandson, too.
After Nina said she’d come out with guns blazing, she added that Carly had better hope she’s not in the line of fire.
Carly appeared just in time for Nina’s bold declaration, so she smirked at her enemy.
At Wyndemere, Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) read a letter from her old nanny, Maggie Fitzgerald.
That letter talked about how thrilled Maggie was about Esme’s romance with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) and how she was glad Esme hadn’t pursued a relationship with her biological father.
Maggie wanted Esme to be happy, so Esme said she intended to be and tucked the letter away in the bottom of a shoebox in the closet.
At Kelly’s, Spencer admitted he wasn’t making progress on his plan to clear Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and bring Esme down.
It was tough because Esme was always around and that prevented Spencer from searching for incriminating evidence.
Cameron urged Spencer to go snoop right now and promised to stall Esme once she got there.
Spencer then snuck in Esme’s room and took pictures of various things with his cell phone.
After Spencer found a shoebox from three seasons ago, he opened it up and seemed intrigued by his closet discovery.
At yoga class, Josslyn played matchmaker for Trina and Officer Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse) after noticing their spark.
Rory and Trina did some more flirting, but Rory ultimately pointed out that he wasn’t supposed to socialize with Trina in public – though bumping into each other like this was fine.
While Rory mentioned that and assured Trina that she’d beat the charges, Esme eavesdropped.
Once Esme left the yoga studio, she headed over to Kelly’s and wondered where Spencer was.
When Esme learned Spencer wasn’t around, she suggested she’d just meet up with him at home.
Cameron managed to stall Esme by acting apologetic about some of the things he’d said to her.
Esme understood that Cam had to stand up for Joss and wished she had a boyfriend who was that loyal.
Cameron defended Spencer’s faith in Esme and acted like everything was going to work out. Esme hugged Cam and said she was so glad he was his own man.
Josslyn showed up with Trina and declared that was HER man before giving Esme five seconds to get her tentacles off Cameron.
