General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that we’re wondering: Should Tanner Novlan play a Nathan West (last played by Ryan Paevey) recast and offer a back-from-the-dead love interest for Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms)?
Novlan portrayed John “Finn” Finnegan over on The Bold and the Beautiful, but he was killed off suddenly in a shocking twist – leaving plenty of fans outraged.
Another soap would be smart to snatch Novlan up, so let’s consider where he might fit on GH.
Of course, Tanner Novlan could come to Port Charles as a new character – maybe even a doctor like the one he played on B&B.
However, Novlan could also work well as a cop. We could even buy Novlan as a Nathan West recast if the show wanted to resurrect this detective for Maxie.
It wouldn’t be a bad idea considering Maxie’s other love interests just haven’t been working.
Maxie was stuck in an awful pairing with sinister Peter August (Wes Ramsey) for what felt like forever.
Now that Maxie is finally free to move on, the show has paired her up with awkward Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth).
Many viewers just aren’t on board with Austin and Maxie as a romantic duo. They’re perfectly fine as friends, but Maxie needs someone she can sizzle with.
Novlan is the kind of actor who has onscreen chemistry with just about anyone and could no doubt bring the necessary heat.
It’d be easy for the show to claim Nathan’s death was faked and that he’d been stuck in captivity like Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) was.
Regardless, most fans don’t care about the details of a back-from-the-dead explanation as long as it brings a welcome cast addition.
Ryan Paevey did a great job as Nathan, but he departed the role and has left the door open for someone else to step in.
Naturally, there are other recast roles that Tanner Novlan could play – or there’s the potential of a brand-new character like we mentioned.
Whether they might want Novlan as Nathan or someone else, it’d be exciting to see him join the ABC soap.
