General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) have a dangerous spark, so a cheating threat may be closer than Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) thinks.
GH fans know Nina and Ava have been growing closer lately – so much so that Nina invited Ava to move in with her for a while.
These two have overcome a messy history to get where they are now, so there’s no denying that Ava and Nina are true friends at this point.
Of course, Sonny has become awfully protective of Ava lately due to all the hook drama.
Although Sonny likes to act like this is strictly about Ava being Avery Corinthos’ (Ava and Grace Scarola) mom, there may be more to the story.
Ava is a like-minded individual who understands how Sonny operates – as evidenced by her view that Sonny made the right decision in how he handled Dex Heller (Evan Hofer).
There’s a certain sense of solidarity since Ava understands doing whatever it takes to protect the people you love.
Every time Ava and Sonny have scenes together, social media tends to blow up with comments about their spark and how GH should really pursue it.
Maura West and Maurice Benard have great chemistry, so the show might as well take advantage of the sizzle.
Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) seems content to move forward with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), so it doesn’t look like she poses any real threat to Nina and Sonny’s relationship.
What if the writers intend to make Ava an obstacle instead?
After all, we mentioned that Sonny has become more protective of Ava.
There’s far less of an edge when Sonny and Ava interact now, so that could mean something.
Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) is forcing Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) to divorce Ava – not to mention Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) is back to destroy everything she touches.
We may see Ava head toward a different love interest in the months ahead.
If that love interest turns out to be Sonny, it would explain why the show’s been ramping up the tension between Nik and Sonny in recent months.
Nina is so fixated on the idea of Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) cheating with TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) that she might not see the cheating threat to her own relationship.
All it would take is a fight between Sonny and Nina to push him in Ava’s direction, and she might be vulnerable enough to cave in after the latest round of Nikolas chaos.
Flying sparks and growing temptation could do the rest!
