General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) may be poised to try a Valentine’s Day grand gesture. This could bring a promised make-or-break-it moment with Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), so let’s talk about what’s in store.
GH fans know Carly has repeatedly asked for time and space.
Carly realizes Sonny isn’t over Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and can’t watch him work through his heartache over losing her.
It’s just not something Carly can deal with, so all she’s asked for is some time apart.
Unfortunately, Sonny has been off his meds and fixating on the idea of a grand gesture to win Carly over.
There’s no guarantee Sonny will truly get back on track and stay that way when it comes to his lithium.
Regardless, Sonny will keep obsessing over this grand gesture idea no matter what. He’ll hope he can somehow prove his love to Carly if he goes big and bold enough.
During the week of January 31-February 4, Sonny will confide in Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth).
Ahead of Ned and Olivia Quartermaine’s (Lisa LoCicero) vow renewal, Sonny will admit his grand gesture plans and insist he’s going to get Carly back.
However, Ned won’t think that’s such a good idea since Carly specifically asked for time and space.
Personal experience has taught Ned that there’s no point in pushing someone to reconcile when they aren’t ready.
Ned learned that lesson through his own issues with Olivia, so he finally had to back off and learn to be patient.
That patience paid off since Ned and Olivia are recommitting to each other in front of their closest family and friends.
Even so, Sonny seems to think he knows best when it comes to Carly. He rejected Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) suggestion to give Carly the time and space she asked for.
There’s no reason to think Sonny will listen to Ned either.
With that in mind, Sonny may move forward with grand gesture plans anyway.
Sonny will have another conversation with Carly that perhaps further convinces him they could be on the cusp of a reunion if he could just tries harder.
During the week of February 7-11, Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) will deck Charlie’s Pub out for Valentine’s Day in a unique way.
Sonny will pop in and take note of the decorations, so maybe they’ll wind up fitting in with his grand plan.
After all, Sonny needs a venue since Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) refused to let him rent The Savoy out for the evening.
Sonny might decide the bar he owns is a better location for what he has in mind anyway.
Of course, there’s a chance Sonny will ultimately dial things down. Sonny might choose a simpler gesture in the end, but his goals will still be grand.
Sonny’s being rather pushy with Carly because he’s just so desperate to fix their marriage.
The show’s gearing up for a make-or-break-it moment during February sweeps.
Carly will either relent and put her faith in a future with Sonny or balk and potentially insist on a divorce.
Whatever happens, Valentine’s Day may become a pivotal holiday for Sonny and Carly.
