General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Sydney Mikayla is OUT at GH, so Tabyana Ali is taking over as a Trina Robinson recast. According to the statement Mikayla herself made to SOD, she’s indeed making her departure. Mikayla’s final airdate will be March 17, so let’s talk about this tricky casting situation.
The show was willing to work with Mikayla’s schedule now that she’s a student at UCLA, but she’s decided she wants to devote more time to the college experience and step away from GH entirely.
That’s certainly a decision that everyone can understand and respect under the circumstances.
It’s all about priorities and making sure Sydney Mikayla heads down the path she wants.
However, that also means the show has been forced to recast the role of Trina Robinson.
The pairing of Trina and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) has been a popular one, so it’s easy to see why the show would want to keep that going.
Trina has also become an important key player among the younger set of characters, so it’s a good idea to keep her around.
That’s especially true since it looks like Trina’s true paternity is on the verge of coming out.
We can’t forget that Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) is keeping a huge secret about Trina’s biological father.
Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) seems poised to find out that Portia kept his daughter from him and passed her off as Marcus Taggert’s (Réal Andrews) daughter instead.
That’s a story that Trina obviously needs to be around for, so a recast is necessary.
Of course, Trina is going to need a brief breather due to all the drama that’s playing out with Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Cameron Webber (William Lipton) and Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl).
Trina will make a big decision on March 17, so that may involve spending some time with Taggert out of town until Tabyana Ali makes her debut as Trina later in the month.
