General Hospital Spoilers: Thursday, July 28 Recap – Ava Confronts Esme After Nik Confesses Cheating – Diane’s Stunning Witness

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 28, reveals that Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) confronted Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) after Nikolas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) cheating confession. Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) also called a stunning witness, so here’s how Thursday’s drama went down.

At the hospital, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) prepared for her therapy session, but she felt it was pointless since she just slipped up and was fine now.

Sasha also didn’t want Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) to hang around, so she gave him a nudge to go.

After Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) popped up, Sasha admitted she knew about the pregnancy and was happy for her friends.

Once Brando left, Sasha complained to Michael about her husband’s hovering while Willow cornered TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) nearby.

Willow admitted she hadn’t told Michael there might be a health issue yet, so she pushed for TJ’s silence until after her follow-up test results.

Although TJ assured Willow that he’d respect her right to privacy, he was concerned about the secrecy as her colleague.

Willow insisted she’d fill Michael in once she knew what was going on.

Meanwhile, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) acted impressed with the way Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) handled Felty (Brian Norris) and suggested nobody would ever accuse Sonny of going soft.

If Sonny ever needed help on a job like that, Dex said he was Sonny’s guy.

Afterward, Dex met with Michael in the stairwell at GH.

Michael got updates on the recent Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) situation and reminded Dex to stay away from his sister.

As for Dex’s role in Sonny’s organization, Michael warned him not to seem too eager.

Instead, Michael offered tips on how to be more like Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and be what Sonny had lost.

Brando also found Sonny at the boxing gym and complained about Sasha pushing him away.

Sonny knew he’d said it before, but he felt Brando had to show Sasha that he was there for her – no matter what.

Once Brando returned to GH, he stumbled across Dex with Michael in the stairwell and wondered what they were doing there.

At the ax throwing club, Mac Scorpio (John J. York) suggested Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) should be the new chief of detectives when he retired one day.

Dante also started thinking about his future with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), so he brought up the idea of living together.

Sam admitted she hadn’t thought much about it and worried about messing with a good thing. However, Dante felt their relationship could be even better and convinced Sam to start mulling it over more.

At the hospital again, Dante questioned banged-up Felty, who lied about getting mugged despite still having his wallet and phone.

Felty said he especially wouldn’t tell Dante what happened, so Dante wondered why he wouldn’t tell him in particular. In the end, Felty tried to act like he just meant the cops in general.

As for Willow, she quizzed Sasha about how she found out about the baby.

Willow realized Sasha knew before she had her meltdown on the Home and Heart Channel, so she pulled her into a hug.

Grant Smoltz (David Lautman) witnessed the embrace and made a comment about Willow forgiving Sasha for mowing down her mother.

Willow ripped into Smoltz and went for security while Sasha took her turn lashing out.

Smoltz realized he’d better make himself scarce and was ultimately summoned to Felty’s room.

Felty had a big story and hinted about the Face of Deception being on drugs the night she ran over Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel).

Over with Willow, she assured Sasha that what happened to Harmony was an accident and that she didn’t blame Sasha for it.

At the courthouse, Nikolas found Esme, who suggested she had the power to blow up Ava’s world.

Nikolas kept trying to shut Esme up in front of Ava, but Esme vowed to end this – right here, right now.

Ava grew concerned since it was apparent there was indeed a secret.

Esme told Nikolas to have a nice conversation with his wife and headed in the courtroom, where she let Spencer know there was no deal.

Esme suggested she wasn’t as alone as Spencer thought and that she’d find her birth mother another way.

Once Esme took the stand, she did her best to do more Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) damage.

Even so, Diane tried to highlight the fact that the whole cabin trip had been orchestrated by Esme, who wasn’t accepted by Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Chavez) group of friends.

Diane made it seem like Esme was jealous of Trina and had a motive for revenge, so she was at least able to present that alternative in court.

During the recess, Josslyn grumbled at Spencer, who admitted Esme wasn’t his girlfriend anymore and said something about a plan that didn’t work.

Spencer suddenly had an idea for another one that might and told Diane about Trina’s alibi offscreen.

Diane warned about the risks and that there was no guarantee it would help, but she seemed pleased over Spencer taking this step.

Trina was prepared to take the stand next, but Diane called Spencer up as a defense witness first.

Back with Nikolas, he entered a private room with Ava and teared up as he talked about making a huge mistake.

Nikolas eventually admitted he slept with Esme, so Ava blew up as she pushed for all the details and thought he was pathetic.

Nikolas stepped forward and reached out to touch Ava, but she held up her hand and insisted he’d never touch her again!

Ava pointed out that Esme was a girl rather than a woman – a girl she couldn’t stand.

After Ava suggested Esme was young enough to be Nikolas’ daughter, Nik acted like HE was the one who was taken advantage of.

Ava was disgusted over Nikolas playing the victim and made it clear that he was a spineless weakling, not a man.

As Ava headed for the door, she vowed to burn Nikolas to the ground.

Nikolas stayed behind and looked at a picture of himself with Ava on his phone, but he ultimately decided he couldn’t give up on his marriage without a fight.

At Wyndemere, Esme scrambled to pack her belongings, including a paper she’d hidden in a book.

While Esme was stuffing her suitcase, Ava walked in and confronted the “conniving little whore.”
