General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, March 17, reveals that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) ruined Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) sting operation while Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) made an anonymous tip line confession. Let’s talk about how all Thursday’s GH drama went down.
Near the bridge, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) grew frustrated over not being able to hear Drew through the listening device.
They eventually realized the wet leaves above the van were interfering with the signal.
Meanwhile, Drew confronted Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) about bringing his attack dog to their meeting.
Johann (Max Decker) came out of hiding before Victor explained that Johann was his insurance policy.
After Dante moved the van, they were able to hear Drew. Sam got Drew to cough as confirmation that he could also hear them.
Victor stalled a bit longer before pulling out the tarot card and declaring Drew was active.
Drew faked a trance and said he was reporting for duty, but Victor put him to the test by ordering him to throw Johann over the side of the bridge.
Dante wanted to shut the whole thing down, but Sam trusted that Drew could handle this.
Drew struggled with Johann and put on a convincing performance, so Victor decided he believed Drew was reactivated.
At GH, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) ran into Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) and asked if Jordan considered Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) dangerous.
Jordan pointed out that Spencer was in jail for a nonviolent offense and that he had an alibi for the car torching.
That led to Portia wondering why Esme hadn’t been charged, so Jordan said it was complicated.
Portia was concerned about the risk to Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) since she was stuck in all Spencer and Esme’s chaos.
Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) showed up and grew concerned for Trina, but Portia decided she shouldn’t meddle after all.
In private, Portia brought Curtis up to speed on the cabin video scandal and Esme’s accusations.
Portia worried about Trina’s inexplicable attachment to “this Cassadine kid” and didn’t think Spencer deserved Trina’s loyalty.
Portia wished Trina would just move on from Spencer and Esme, but Curtis suggested that was Trina’s choice.
Although Portia understood Curtis’ point about backing off, she still felt like her mother’s intuition was telling her something.
Portia just hoped she could protect Trina before it was too late.
At Spring Ridge, Trina informed Spencer that this would be her first and last visit. As long as Esme was in Spencer’s life, Trina couldn’t be in it.
After Trina went on a tirade about Esme, she returned the art book Spencer gave her.
Trina didn’t want a friendship with someone who always asked her to lie for him.
Trina suggested Spencer could prove he cared about his friends by leaving Esme, but he refused to break up with her.
Spencer begged Trina not to walk out and got her to admit what she thought of the book, which was inspiring but also a letdown.
Trina saw her favorite artist with new eyes since the criticism in the book showed the artist’s limitations.
Spencer thought there was beauty in imperfections and suggested sometimes you just need more time to change.
Trina argued that someone people are who they are, so Spencer wondered if she was going to drop him along with her favorite artist.
Although Spencer knew he didn’t deserve Trina’s friendship, he admitted he needed it.
Trina said it wasn’t too late to drop Esme and send her back to France or wherever she was really from.
Spencer insisted he couldn’t since he was all Esme had. Trina then pointed out that Esme might be all Spencer had if he kept defending her.
Nearby, Esme spied through a little window and pulled out the phone with the cabin video on it.
Esme secretly slipped that phone in Trina’s purse before ducking out of sight again.
Esme then called an anonymous tip line to “report a case of revenge porn.”
Esme said she knew who uploaded the video of Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Cameron Webber (William Lipton).
When Carly seemed standoffish at the hospital, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) assumed this was about Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) having Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) declared legally dead.
It was the first Carly had heard of the plan, so Britt was sorry since she thought Carly knew.
That felt like giving up on Jason to Carly, but Britt suggested they had to let go.
Carly countered that Britt wasn’t really moving on, but Britt said all they had left of Jason were memories.
“Let’s be honest: what you had with Jason was a memory before you ever went to Greece,” Carly snapped.
Carly then apologized for taking her anger and grief out on Britt.
Jordan watched Carly and Britt’s interaction briefly before joining them. She expressed her condolences to Carly, who took off soon after.
Britt wanted to discuss happier news with Jordan, so they talked about her clean bill of health.
Jordan thought her kidney crisis had been a reminder that life wasn’t promised. Britt seemed to be hiding a hand tremor as she said, “Don’t I know it.”
At the penthouse, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was clearly drunk as he let Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) in.
Sonny admitted he struck out with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), so Nina thanked him for trying and said she would call Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight).
Sonny threw something off the table and smashed it in a fit of rage.
Sonny yelled that he told Nina he would fix it, but he settled down after realizing he scared her.
Nina tried to leave since she couldn’t put herself at risk, but Sonny said Nina knew him.
Nina yelled that she knew “Mike,” so Sonny admitted to missing “Mike” and his uncomplicated life, too.
Sonny mentioned Jason being declared legally dead, so Nina understood that was part of why he was struggling.
However, Sonny asked Nina to forgive him for his outburst and didn’t want to be anything like his drunk, abusive stepfather.
After Sonny realized he couldn’t keep using booze as a crutch, he poured out the decanter and said he didn’t want liquor in the house.
As for Wiley, Sonny insisted Nina couldn’t give up. He felt their grandson was lucky to have Nina in his corner.
Back with Britt, she called up the matchmaking service and got them to send her a new questionnaire since she deleted the first one.
On the bridge again, Victor wanted info from Drew’s navy days.
Victor asked about Operation Demeter, but Carly popped up with her phone and announced she was shutting this down right now.
Carly vowed to livestream the video she was recording if Victor didn’t cooperate.
Drew finally revealed he was never activated, so Victor took off – leaving Carly to take heat from Drew, Sam and Victor for blowing their mission.
Drew ultimately decided it was his fault for giving Carly enough info to worry, but not enough to know what was going on.
Sam and Dante at least thought the “Operation Demeter” clue could be helpful.
After Spencer said his world would turn gray if Trina walked out on him, Trina suggested he was afraid of the truth.
Esme then stomped over to question how Trina could even show her face there after what she did to her supposed friends.
Trina eventually left in a huff, so Spencer filled Esme in on his returned gift.
Spencer said Trina didn’t want anything from him, so Esme wondered if that meant Trina was out of Spencer’s life.
Back at the hospital, a sleazy reporter asked if Jordan had any comment on the developing revenge porn story.
He wondered if Jordan could confirm that Sonny Corinthos’ stepdaughter was the victim.
General Hospital spoilers say Esme has even more tricks up her sleeve, so stay tuned.
