General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 23, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) raged after Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) poked the bear. Leo Falconeri (Easton Rocket Sweda) also lost control of the love potion he prepared, so let’s talk about all the GH drama.
By the Metro Court pool, TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) noticed the marriage proposal in progress and filmed it with his phone.
After Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) made a sweet speech asking Portia (Brook Kerr) to be his wife, she made a touching speech of her own and accepted the engagement ring.
Once Curtis and Portia shared a kiss to seal the deal, it pleased the crowd that had gathered – including TJ, who congratulated the happy couple.
After Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) and Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) put their Tommy Ashford issues behind them, Jordan arrived at the pool and got engagement updates from TJ.
Although TJ was concerned about Jordan, she put on a brave face and offered some congratulatory words.
Jordan reassured Curtis about wanting his happiness, but she still seemed a little bummed over the big news.
Once Portia got a call, she stepped away to take it. Jordan overheard Portia talking about a genetic counseling appointment for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and looked pensive.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Leo made some lemonade along with two cups of the Sicilian thunderbolt drink.
Although Leo planned to give those cups to Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), he left the cups unattended and lost track of them.
Leo admitted his blunder to Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) later and worried he messed everything up.
Olivia also criticized Nikolas and Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) for bickering at the picnic, but she ultimately understood couples clash sometimes.
Meanwhile, Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) was trying to tell Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) about her leukemia diagnosis when Sonny appeared outside the door.
Michael opened up just to say Sonny wasn’t welcome, but Sonny pointed out he was a charitable donor and revealed that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was staying away.
After Michael slammed the door in his father’s face, Sonny barged in and said it’d be the last time Michael ever did that if he did it again.
Willow pushed for peace, so Michael relented and didn’t know what he’d do without Willow to keep him grounded.
Olivia brought Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Viron Weaver) in since he wanted to enjoy the picnic with his mom and dad, so Willow decided to postpone her leukemia confession.
While watching Michael play with Wiley outside, Willow told Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) that she’d decided to delay treatment until her second trimester.
Since Willow assumed Michael would try to change her mind, she resolved not to spend the next few weeks fighting.
That meant Willow was going to keep her cancer diagnosis to herself until it was time to start treatment.
Although Terry respected Willow’s decision to delay chemotherapy, she really thought Willow should tell Michael the truth and lean on him.
Back with Sonny, he caught up with Ava inside and seemed suspicious about Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) social media posts in France.
Nikolas appeared and warned Sonny to stop pestering Ava, but Sonny angrily refused to take orders from Nik.
Things got heated as Sonny invited Nikolas to take his best shot, but Ava dragged Nik away and scolded him for picking a fight.
Nikolas told Ava that although he made a mistake, he loved her and would always come to her rescue. That seemed to tug at Ava’s heartstrings a bit despite her lingering anger.
After Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) recruited Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) to be his partner for the three-legged race, they shared some close moments – including when they toppled to the ground together.
Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) won the three-legged race, so they shared their own flirty fun.
At one point in the stables, Brook Lynn called Carly out on the vibe with Drew and acted like they should stop dancing around their feelings.
Carly managed to spin this around and urged Brook Lynn to take her own advice with Chase.
That brings us back to the drinks that Leo had prepared – including the two Sicilian thunderbolt cups and the mystery picnic-goers they ended up with.
Chase got a cup and approached Sam, who seemed a little out of it as she drank her own.
Since Sam looked like she could use a friend, Chase said he was available.
Brook Lynn then bumped into Dante elsewhere – and they both had cups as well.
The tension thawed between Ava and Nikolas once they had beverages, so they agreed to play a game of cornhole.
Carly also had a cup when she reconvened with Drew, who had a drink and offered her a hot dog.
General Hospital spoilers say Leo’s love potion will lead to some interesting developments, so stay tuned!
