General Hospital Spoilers: Tuesday, August 30 Recap – Sonny’s Sad News for Avery – Victor Bribes Spencer to Protect Nikolas

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 30, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had some sad news for Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) while Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) bribed Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) to protect Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma).

At home, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) comforted Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) after last night’s horrifying ordeal and praised her for how she helped Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West).

Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) arrived sounding cheerful since the Title IX case was dropped and there was nothing on her record.

Although Trina wanted to tell Ava at the gallery, Josslyn admitted she couldn’t and filled Trina in on Ava’s attack.

In the hospital waiting area, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) awoke in Sonny’s arms.

Nikolas wasn’t pleased to see Sonny and wanted him gone, but Sonny felt he had a right to be there since Ava was the mother of his child.

Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) intervened as the fight escalated and threatened to have both men thrown out if they couldn’t behave.

In a moment alone with Nikolas, Jordan asked him about his faceoff with Sonny and wanted him to walk her through everything that happened at the picnic.

Nikolas was cagey and felt that Jordan should be questioning other people, but she couldn’t understand why he was so resistant to providing answers.

Once Victor tracked down hungover Spencer in his Metro Court suite, he wanted to discuss the Ava situation.

Although Spencer and Victor acknowledged they were ambivalent about Ava, Spencer wondered if maybe Victor was angry that the attack wasn’t more successful.

After all, sending an operative to target Ava at a party with a million suspects was in Victor’s wheelhouse.

Victor argued that Spencer was perhaps deflecting blame since he had as much reason to kill Ava as anyone.

However, Victor eventually settled on Nikolas as the person who might need the most protection, though Spencer didn’t see why they should protect the worst of the Cassadines.

After Victor pointed out that Laura Collins (Genie Francis) wouldn’t want them to turn their backs on Nikolas, he warned that Spencer should say nothing to implicate his father.

If Spencer omitted any reference to what happened between Nikolas and Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl), then Victor hinted that he’d be rewarded.

Spencer wanted specifics, so Victor suggested that he might be able to get his hands on his birthright sooner than expected.

After Spencer wondered what Ava would say when she woke up, Victor said that was assuming she did. “Leave Ava to me,” Victor insisted.

Spencer still seemed agitated over the idea of protecting Nikolas and decided he should check on Trina.

That left Victor wishing Spencer would show as much loyalty for his father as he did his friend.

At GH, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) admitted to getting Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) five voicemails.

Liz was upset over Finn’s crossed boundary, so he confessed to being arrogant and disrespectful when he called Sarah Webber (Sarah Laine).

Although Finn wanted to know how to make this right, Liz argued that he couldn’t.

Finn pointed out that Liz said he wasn’t her anything and asked if she still felt that way.

After Finn suggested he wanted her happiness no matter what, Liz argued that she needed to work through her issues on her own and pushed for time.

In another area of the hospital, a doctor offered updates on Ava’s condition.

Although they were able to repair much of the damage, Ava was being monitored for complications.

Nikolas learned that Ava’s condition was serious but stable. When Nikolas asked if he could see Ava, he was allowed to pop in the ICU briefly.

Nina pushed Jordan to seek justice, so the commissioner insisted they’d chase down every clue – no matter where it led.

Once Jordan found Finn and Liz, she had questions about their own picnic experience.

Liz claimed to have hit her head on a branch and was unsettled when Jordan asked for her whereabouts when Ava was attacked.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) gave her statement to the cops.

Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) also talked about how he was probably on s’mores duty when Ava was attacked – and before that, he was manning the grill.

Since Drew’s thoughts were clearly elsewhere, Brook Lynn was worried the police would think he had something to hide.

Once Brook Lynn realized Drew had Carly on his mind, she was all for their romantic progress and didn’t want to see Drew waste time.

Back at Carly’s place, Sonny showed up and made Avery chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.

After Sonny and Carly explained that Ava got hurt last night, Avery wanted to see her mom.

Since Avery was deemed too young to handle that, she asked if she could see “Daddy Nikolas” instead.

Sonny grimaced, but he agreed as soon as Avery finished one more bite of pancake.

Sonny also arranged for Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) to take Trina and Josslyn to the hospital, where Trina thanked Dex for his role in saving Ava.

As Trina peeked in through the window of Ava’s room, Spencer surprised her from behind.

After Spencer admitted he was there for Trina and for Ava since she was family, Trina assumed he also wanted to support Nikolas.

Over with Drew and Carly, they met up and admitted they couldn’t stop thinking about last night.

Back with Josslyn at GH, she shared a nice bonding moment with Dex before mentioning she had plans with her boyfriend, Cameron Webber (William Lipton).

Dex and Josslyn clearly had a little vibe going on as she took playful jabs over his boss.

Once Nikolas made his way into Ava’s room, he sat down next to her. Nikolas hinted that if Ava had only listened, it would’ve never come to this.

General Hospital spoilers say Nikolas will make some other suspicious moves as this storyline heats up, so stay tuned!
