General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, April 13, reveals that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was held at gunpoint – and it was revealed that Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) nanny Maggie feared Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom). Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) also had a secret plan, so here’s how all Wednesday’s GH action played out.
At the Metro Court, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) faced Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) questions about her love life.
Britt let both Liesl and Nina know that she’d filled out the matchmaking questionnaire, so the rest was in Society Setups’ hands.
After Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) had another meeting with Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West), he kissed Liesl in front of Britt and left her grossed out.
Britt excused herself to get another drink, but she ended up checking out her new love matches and found one that was promising.
Obrecht was intrigued when Britt met back up with her and admitted she had some matches.
Since Liesl thought an extra pair of eyes could be useful, Britt handed over her phone and told “Mutter” to knock herself out.
At the gallery, Spencer wanted to check on Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), but she couldn’t act like everything was normal between them.
Spencer briefly thought Trina had ratted him out for being at the cemetery and using him as her alibi, but she admitted she hadn’t yet.
That said, Trina wasn’t going to prison for Spencer and wouldn’t hesitate to do whatever it took to clear her name.
Spencer admitted it was hard to believe Trina would do this to Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Cameron Webber (William Lipton), but he refused to acknowledge Esme’s guilt either.
That led to Trina’s frustrated outburst as she tried to understand why Spencer was standing by Esme when she was obviously guilty.
Spencer then had a fantasy of what he actually wanted to say to Trina.
In that fantasy, Spencer finally admitted he was keeping an eye on Esme and waiting for her to slip up – that he was doing all this to clear Trina’s name.
After Spencer added that he was falling in love with Trina, he snapped back to reality.
Spencer was cold to Trina as he insisted that she couldn’t blame all her problems on Esme.
That left Trina furious, so she threw him out of the gallery. As Spencer stepped around the corner, he looked distraught.
At the Metro Court, Ava interrupted Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) evening to drag the detective away for a confrontation.
Ava made it clear that Esme was guilty and that the cops needed to be doing more to lock her up, not Trina.
Later, Sam heard Dante’s phone notification and guessed his password was “Rocco.”
That allowed Sam to check Dante’s email and look into the forensics report in Trina’s case, but Dante came back and wondered what she was doing.
Sam looked guilty since she’d been caught red-handed!
At Wyndemere, Esme offered a sob story about her adoptive parents dying tragically and how she felt like her birth parents threw her away.
Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) offered a sympathetic ear and pointed out that Esme might’ve been wanted desperately.
Nikolas acted like the situation could’ve been complicated, so Esme brought up Nikolas’ situation with his own mother since she’d heard about it from Spencer.
Esme thought it was nice to connect with someone who understood her lonely childhood.
Esme said she wasn’t close to her siblings – though she did have a strong bond with a nanny named Maggie until that nanny took another job.
Once Esme was alone in her room, she looked through a box and found a letter Maggie had written to her.
Maggie had concerns about Esme going to New York since she felt nothing good could come from contact with Esme’s father.
Back with Ava, she found Nikolas waiting for her when she returned home.
Nikolas filled Ava in on his conversation with Esme and acted like it was wise to make her trust him.
When Nikolas suggested joining Ava in bed, she clarified that her bedroom ban wasn’t just talk.
Ava refused to share a bed with Nikolas while Esme was living in the house – and as for the vow renewal, that was off, too.
Ava didn’t think she could believe any vow Nikolas said to her right now.
At Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst), Josslyn and Cameron’s make-out session got heated until she heard a noise.
Cam checked and couldn’t find any signs of an intruder, so he worried maybe this was about taking the kiss too far.
Josslyn assured Cameron that she wanted to be intimate with Cameron again, but she was feeling so exposed right now.
Cam was understanding about the whole thing, but he was down in the dumps when someone from Lila’s Kids called and revealed he couldn’t be a counselor due to the scandalous video.
Cameron didn’t think he was good company right now, so Joss took the hint and decided to leave.
Although Josslyn and Cameron were adamant about getting through this, the video was obviously creating some distance between them.
Meanwhile, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) convinced Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) to take Charlie’s Pub off his hands for $100.
Nina pitched in on helping Phyllis accept the deal since it’d keep her in Port Charles indefinitely.
Sonny also formally introduced Phyllis to Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson), who were at a table doing some house-hunting online.
Phyllis found out they were newlyweds and offered her condolences on the baby they lost.
The mention of Liam Corbin affected Sasha, who eventually got flustered and worried this marriage only happened because she wanted it.
Brando assured Sasha that although he’d do anything for her, he married for both of them. Sasha kissed Brando as they shared a touching moment together.
Back with Phyllis, she needed to make a night deposit in the box at the bank.
Sonny sent one of his guards with her so she wouldn’t be alone – and Brando left with Sasha as well.
Nina stuck around so she could talk to Phyllis once she got back.
Nina found out from Sonny that Scott planned to subpoena him so he could vouch for Nina’s character in court.
Nina objected to that plan and planned to fire Scott if a subpoena happened, but Sonny downplayed the drama.
As Nina went to lock up, two masked gunmen appeared with guns drawn.
They pointed their weapons at Nina and warned her not to do anything stupid, so it became a life-and-death situation!
