General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 3, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) suspected Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) after a fatal Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) clue. Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) also landed in Grant Smoltz’s (David Lautman) trap, so here’s how all the GH drama played out.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) talked about how important it was for everyone to believe Esme simply took off.
Ava felt she was better off on her own than with the man who betrayed her and tried to reject Nikolas’ help.
However, Nikolas knew there’d be questions if Ava left Wyndemere and felt they had bigger priorities than the infidelity right now.
Ava argued that she could take care of herself, but Nikolas warned her not to do anything rash until he got back.
Nikolas headed to the PCPD after Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) called for help and got a chance to speak with his son alone.
In the interrogation room, Spencer thought it was crucial to find Esme and filled Nikolas in on how he’d been playing her.
Nikolas wished Spencer had brought him in the loop since it would’ve changed everything.
Although it briefly seemed like Nikolas might confess some or all of the truth, he wound up just claiming Esme left town.
Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) couldn’t get Spencer arraigned at night court, so that meant he had to be taken back to a cell until morning.
Spencer seemed fine with that and gave Nikolas another nudge to track down Esme for Trina’s sake.
Meanwhile, Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) wondered if Sonny could spare a guy to look after Sasha, so Sonny suggested Brando was asking him to spy on his wife.
Brando ultimately realized that wasn’t the right call and decided to go look for Sasha since his instincts said she needed help.
Once Sonny was alone in his office, Ava showed up to ask for help getting Trina acquitted.
Sonny suggested getting the truth out of Esme, but Ava made it clear that Esme was gone.
When Sonny acted like his guys were excellent at tracking people down, Ava became even more adamant that Esme wouldn’t be found in time.
Sonny grew suspicious and wondered what Ava did, but she turned his attention back to Trina and this urgent need to keep her free.
Sonny vowed to take care of it and later called Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) with a job for him to do.
At Kelly’s, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) filled Cameron Webber (William Lipton) in on Spencer’s actions in the courtroom and realized he didn’t seem surprised by Spencer turning against Esme.
Cam confessed he’d been sworn to secrecy by Spencer, who was trying to gather evidence.
Josslyn lashed out since she was Cameron’s girlfriend and had a right to know.
Nevertheless, Joss eventually cooled off and decided she couldn’t know for sure what she would’ve done in Cameron’s position.
That said, Josslyn liked to think she would’ve worked together with Cameron – and she certainly felt they needed to work together now.
At the Metro Court Gardens, Sasha seemed a bit on edge when she ran into Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), who kept her company while she waited for Sienna Colby (Cynthia Zitter) the makeup artist.
Sasha vented about Brando and all his hovering while Sienna received instructions from Smoltz elsewhere.
Smoltz instructed Sienna to make sure he could hear the conversation through her phone and get Sasha to admit she was high the night of she killed Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) – or at least get her to admit to using drugs again.
Once Sienna joined Sasha, she kept her phone secretly on a call to Smoltz.
Nina made herself scarce, so Sasha told Sienna she was looking to have some fun tonight.
Sienna suggested she’d head to the restroom and Sasha could follow, but Sasha turned her down.
Instead, Sasha wanted to chat over cocktails and food, but Sienna ended up asking too many questions about Harmony’s accident – leaving Smoltz worried she would blow this.
Sienna acted like she was a true crime junkie, but Sasha got agitated and wished her luck finding someone else to talk true crime with.
Afterward, Sienna got in Smoltz’s car and still wanted the money he promised.
Smoltz insisted Sienna would get it once she was successful, so she realized he wanted her to try again.
Suddenly, the back of the car jostled before Sasha approached the window. Sasha looked furious as she realized Sienna had been working with Smoltz to set her up.
Back with Brando, he arrived searching for Sasha at the Metro Court Gardens.
Nina urged Brando to try the pool, but Sasha obviously wasn’t there either.
When Ava met up with Nina, she hinted about getting a room at the Metro Court.
Nina assumed that meant more problems with Nikolas, but Ava dodged questions and felt good about Trina’s trial.
In fact, Ava could almost guarantee that Trina wouldn’t be going to prison.
By the pool, Trina felt she was picking up on Rory Cabrera’s (Michael Blake Kruse) signals.
Rory didn’t know what she meant, but Trina assumed he thought she was too complicated and accepted they should stick to friendship.
Rory insisted he was totally into Trina and didn’t mind listening about Spencer, even if he didn’t care about the guy himself.
After Rory and Trina dipped their feet in the pool, he gave her a kiss and confirmed he wanted to keep getting to know her after this was all over.
