General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 31, reveals that Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) realized she must choose prison or a conservatorship. Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) also saved Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) with an alibi – though it may have been more of an effort to save himself.
By the Metro Court pool, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) joined Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) to quiz him about his bond with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and what had changed.
Victor acted like family had always been important to Valentin and emphasized his relationship with Charlotte Cassadine (Amelia McLain).
After Victor mentioned Charlotte’s extended stay at boarding school due to the donated equestrian center, Anna seemed to realize something.
Soon after, Anna called Charlotte’s boarding school to ask who donated that equestrian equipment – obviously assuming it was Victor.
Meanwhile, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) showed up in Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) hotel suite to insist Sasha needed to be dropped as the Face of Deception.
Valentin ultimately suspected this visit was more about Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight), but he didn’t see why Lucy would worry about him after all the Victor flirting.
After Lucy denied interest in Victor, Valentin assumed she was after information and wondered what she hoped to learn.
However, Lucy made it clear that she was all in on Martin and took off.
Once Valentin spied an interaction between Lucy and Anna, he confronted the latter privately.
Valentin snatched Anna’s book away and suggested they weren’t being as honest with each other as they claimed to be.
At Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) place, she was hesitant to jump into a romance with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) when she was still figuring out who she was without Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and her hotel.
Drew thought Carly was letting fear drive her decision and said she didn’t have to be afraid with him. After Drew kissed Carly passionately, he left her with a lot to think about.
At GH, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) got reassurance from Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) ahead of a counseling session with a doctor.
Brando felt Sasha would show the judge that she was willing and ready to get the help she needed.
Once the appointment was underway, Brando and the doctor blindsided Sasha with the idea Martin suggested.
Sasha reeled at the thought of Brando serving as her guardian and controlling every aspect of her life.
Although Sasha felt Brando had lost faith in her, he insisted he was trying to keep them together.
The doctor said Sasha’s options were prison or a conservatorship, but Sasha didn’t see much of a difference with Brando monitoring her every move.
In the end, Sasha stomped off and left Brando frustrated.
Over with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), she realized Nikolas had hurt Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) again.
Trina offered to let Spencer talk about it and took his hand, but he pulled away and suggested this wasn’t her problem anymore.
In Ava Jerome Cassadine’s (Maura West) ICU room, Nikolas scolded Ava for not listening to him and acted like it was too late now.
After Nikolas said he hated to see Ava suffer, he stood over her and made a move for her pillow.
Trina entered and wondered what Nikolas was doing, so he acted like he was fluffing Ava’s pillow for her.
Nikolas said someone who hated Ava must’ve done this to her, but Trina pointed out it could also be someone who used to love her.
In a moment alone, Trina reflected on their friendship and got emotional as she pushed Ava to wake up.
After Trina mentioned Ava’s family being there for her – even Spencer – she was alarmed as Ava’s monitors started beeping like crazy.
Next, Elizabeth struggled to answer Jordan Ashford’s (Tanisha Harper) questions about where she went during her walk.
Nikolas ultimately appeared and gave Liz an alibi by insisting they were together at the time of the attack.
In private, Elizabeth questioned Nik’s decision since he couldn’t be sure of what she did beforehand, but he felt like they both knew Liz wasn’t guilty.
Nikolas claimed he wanted the cops to concentrate on finding the actual culprit.
Later, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) spoke to Liz about Nikolas’ actions and wondered if this was about helping her or himself.
While Victor was talking to Spencer, Jordan came along to reveal that a housekeeper saw Spencer throwing up in the guest bathroom.
That happened around when Ava was stabbed.
Nikolas wound up complaining about all the Cassadine clan harassment, but Jordan suggested maybe they were closer to finding the attacker than Nik thought.
Elsewhere, Sasha bumped into someone who asked if she was the Face of Deception.
Once Sasha confirmed that she was, she figured the woman was hoping for a selfie.
