General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, December 21, reveals that the Quartermaines gathered on Christmas Eve to open one present each. Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) admitted to Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) that Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) wanted nothing to do with her.
When Brook Lynn tried to recruit Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) to replace Chase at the Gingerbread Jam, he pointed out that the agreement was for a duet with two up-and-comers.
Ned argued that Brook Lynn couldn’t just change the terms and had to face the music with the people in charge.
Meanwhile, Chase wondered if he should just bail on his own family gathering with Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison), Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) since he wasn’t feeling the Christmas spirit.
However, Gregory convinced Chase to stick around and suspected his decision to bail on the Gingerbread Jam was about revenge.
Although Chase had a right to be angry, Gregory gave him a nudge toward doing the right thing anyway.
Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) also showed up with good news since the civilian complaint review board decided to review Chase’s case again in the spring.
Chase and Dante realized Brook Lynn might’ve worn them down about the letter to score this Christmas miracle.
Brook Lynn faced some resistance when she tried to cancel Chase’s part in the performance, but it didn’t matter in the end since Chase showed up and shared an intense look with her.
Back at the Quartermaine mansion, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) told Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) looked pale and worried about her having a hard time with this pregnancy.
Drew assured Carly that he was determined to find Willow’s birth mother and wanted to reveal that she might be alive after all.
Carly acted like it’d be a mistake to offer stressful kidnapping updates right now and urged Drew to just let Willow enjoy the holidays – especially since a theory was all he had to go on.
Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Viron Weaver) was excited when Willow and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) revealed the baby was a girl.
When Wiley talked about helping his little sister open presents next year, Willow insisted they would – though she looked nervous at the thought of not being around.
Michael gave Willow a pep talk about all the Christmases they still had to spend together, so she took comfort in his words.
Once Carly decided to go home, Drew joined her outside to offer a kiss and a Florida keychain to remember their time there.
Carly wondered what the key was for, so Drew grinned mischievously and suggested she’d find out soon enough.
Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) also had a small gathering at her place, which included Dante, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez), Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos), TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) and Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth).
After some gifts were exchanged, Alexis got Spencer to open up about what was bothering him.
Spencer confessed to finding out some things about Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) that made him hate even being associated with his father.
Although Spencer wanted advice on escaping the Cassadine clan, Alexis acted like he could never really do that completely.
The best thing Spencer could do was create some distance and pursue what made him happy as just Spencer – not Spencer Cassadine.
Spencer was grateful for the help and ultimately decided he had somewhere to be.
Once Kristina mentioned the new charity work that she was doing, Alexis pulled her aside to tell her daughter how proud she was.
Back with Finn, he confessed to Gregory that he didn’t think he was cut out for love.
That said, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) would always be part of the picture for Violet.
Finn also admitted he wouldn’t change anything that led him down the path to having Violet in his life.
Gregory, Finn and Violet eventually had some cute family moments together as they enjoyed a Christmas story and hot cocoa.
At Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Portia Robinson’s (Brook Kerr) house, they did their best to bring the Christmas spirit to Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) without overwhelming her.
Portia suggested they could make ornaments like they’d done in the past, but there was no pressure.
Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) supported Trina, who was battling guilt for putting “The Hook” in Rory Cabrera’s (Michael Blake Kruse) path.
Trina felt like Rory would still be alive if they’d never met.
Once Josslyn assured Trina that none of this was her fault, she pointed out that Rory wouldn’t want Trina to blame herself either.
Trina ultimately made a personalized ornament in memory of Rory – complete with the tab she’d saved from the soda can he gave her.
Some presents were exchanged, so Curtis was touched when Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) offered a framed family photo from many years ago.
Later, Trina was alone when someone showed up at the door. It was Spencer, so Trina was taken aback to see him.
Back with Josslyn on Wednesday’s GH episode, she seemed tired and a little out of it as she drove home.
Suddenly, Josslyn slammed on the brakes and went veering off the road.
In Rice Plaza, Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) apologized for his recent behavior and felt that he’d driven a wedge in his relationship with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms).
Maxie felt that wedge was already there if they were being honest.
Trauma bonding was a real thing, so Maxie acknowledged that’s what happened when Austin helped her give birth and came into her life in a time of crisis.
Although fate brought them together, Austin realized they weren’t meant to be.
Maxie agreed, but she valued their time as a couple and gave Austin a hug as they broke up amicably.
General Hospital spoilers say Maxie and Austin will have a chance to move on with other people, so stay tuned to ABC’s GH.
