General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, July 27, reveals that Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) called for Esme Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) murder while Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) made a stunning drug connection.
At Wyndemere, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) asked Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) if Esme or anyone else there would have a reason to meet with a man who trafficked black market goods.
Jordan pointed out that Oz Haggerty (Max Faugno) was spotted boarding the launch, but Nikolas acted like he was gone for most of the day.
Nik ultimately got updates on the Oz situation and how he was now in a coma.
As Jordan wrapped up her visit and left, Nikolas realized Esme might’ve had a hand in Oz’s overdose.
GH fans watched as Nikolas flashed back to plenty of Esme’s manipulative moments – finally understanding just how diabolical she was.
When Victor showed up, Nikolas insisted he had to get to Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) since his marriage was in trouble.
After Nikolas alluded to the delicate situation, Victor realized Nikolas had slept with Esme and refused to let her blow up the family.
As Victor grew determined, he warned that Esme was no longer entitled to Cassadine hospitality and said it was time to evict her for good.
Nikolas told Victor to put his phone down and explained why he didn’t want Victor to kill Esme.
Nik also wanted to own up to everything with Ava while he had the chance, so Victor rushed him to the courthouse.
At Spring Ridge, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) wondered why Esme looked sad and reminded her that they could accomplish anything together.
Esme admitted Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) had her banned, so Ryan grumbled about family being more trouble than it’s worth.
Esme hoped that wasn’t true since she was considering sacrificing everything in the name of family.
Ryan was curious what Esme meant, but she moved past the comment and revealed that she used her tryst with Nikolas as leverage.
Although Ryan worried Nikolas could confess and use the secret in his favor, Esme defended her move and blamed Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) for most likely ratting her out to Kevin.
Ryan argued that Kevin and Felicia would be dealt with before asking why Esme was there.
Esme admitted Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) was offering the identity of her birth mother in exchange for helping Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).
In the courtroom, Spencer assured Trina that he was there for her and that he’d tell the truth. Trina wondered if Spencer meant the actual truth or the “gospel according to Esme.”
Next, the ADA cornered Spencer to ask where Esme was. Spencer insisted he’d make sure Esme showed up and sent her a text.
Meanwhile, Trina told Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) that Spencer was a witness for the prosecution and was bummed since she thought he was on her side for a split second.
On the stand, Spencer testified about the drama at the cabin and how he couldn’t account for Trina’s whereabouts the entire night.
Spencer also revealed that Esme left the room at one point, so her whereabouts couldn’t be completely accounted for either.
Back at Spring Ridge, Esme received Spencer’s text and learned the deal was off unless she got over to the courthouse right now.
Ryan snatched the phone out of Esme’s hand and warned that this couldn’t happen on his time.
After Ryan pointed out that Spencer had a bargaining chip, he worried Spencer could dig for info on Esme’s father.
If Esme was compromised, then she was of no use to Ryan.
Esme wondered if their relationship was really that transactional, but Ryan assured Esme that he cared about her.
After Ryan expressed doubt about Spencer actually finding Esme’s mother, she pushed Ryan to tell her who her mother was instead.
Ryan claimed that he didn’t know her real name, but Esme’s mother was someone who understood and accepted him.
When this woman supposedly disappeared, Ryan claimed he looked everywhere for her.
Ryan said Spencer could be bluffing and wondered if he could be trusted to keep his end of the bargain.
Esme talked about needing to get Trina off the hook as part of Spencer’s deal and suggested she could always run.
Ryan said he wouldn’t allow it and that Esme would be an orphan again if she disobeyed him.
Esme decided she’d stay, but she might have to leverage info about Ryan to save herself.
Ryan stood up like it was going to be a menacing moment, but he pulled Esme into a hug moments later.
After Ryan assured Esme that he wasn’t an unfeeling monster, he said her mother meant everything to him just like their daughter.
Ryan couldn’t bear the thought of Esme walking out of his life too, so she said she could never leave him or betray him.
Once Ryan confirmed he knew that, he added that there was no place Esme could run that he wouldn’t find her.
Ryan gave Esme a kiss on the head and said that one day, they would be reunited with her mother. Right now, they had more immediate concerns.
Esme cried on Ryan’s shoulder before he pointed out that if Ava Jerome Cassadine’s (Maura West) marriage survived this infidelity, all their efforts would be for nothing.
Once Esme got a call from the ADA, she learned she’d better be at the courthouse in 10 minutes or else she’d be held in contempt.
Ryan promised they’d find Esme’s mother together if she didn’t take Spencer’s offer, but she couldn’t make any promises of her own.
At the Metro Court pool, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) tipped the bartender for letting him know Britt was there.
As Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Britt prepared to order drinks, Cody sauntered over and tried to smooth things over following the disastrous Society Setups date.
Once Cody went off to grab beverages, Maxie thought it seemed like Society Setups got this match right.
Britt countered that they were the opposite of a match, but Maxie thought Cody seemed to be getting under Britt’s skin – and that could mean something.
After Cody returned with drinks, Maxie made herself scarce. Cody promised to be himself this time and hoped that Britt could forgive and forget.
Britt said she forgave Cody, but she couldn’t forget and just wanted him to leave.
Cody pushed for another date, but Britt laughed and said not if he were the “last cowpoke in the countryside.”
When Cody asked why Britt refused to let anyone get close to her, she implied it was only him and not everyone.
After Britt left in a huff, Maxie approached Cody and sarcastically suggested that was a clear triumph.
That said, Maxie thought that Cody had chemistry with Britt and offered some tips on how to win her over.
At the hospital, Jordan wondered if Britt could confirm or deny that Oz overdosed on prescription drugs.
Britt said maybe and questioned the reason for Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) camping outside Oz’s room.
Jordan confessed this was about the Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) investigation and got confirmation on the opioid mixed with alcohol that caused Oz’s overdose.
Britt recalled someone coming to her about this drug in particular recently, so Jordan asked if this individual could shed any light on the case.
After Britt flashed back to Spencer admitting the drug was Esme’s, Jordan insisted a young woman’s freedom was at stake.
The commissioner wanted Britt to spill so that she could decide if it was relevant.
Back at the courthouse with Trina, Diane told her that Spencer’s testimony gave them an opening since he couldn’t account for Esme’s whereabouts the entire night.
Elsewhere, Ava told Spencer he had every opportunity to give Esme an ironclad alibi, but he didn’t.
That made Ava wonder whose side Spencer was really on.
General Hospital spoilers say Spencer will hold out hope that Trina’s name can be cleared, so stay tuned!
