General Hospital (GH) spoilers for the week of January 17-21 tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will be going off the rails while Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) finds herself in total despair. Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) will also face a shocker, so let’s discuss what’s in store.
First, Brick (Stephen A. Smith) will come back on the scene with an urgent warning.
There’ll be a new threat to warn Sonny about, so this might tie in with Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) and his past catching up with him. This might be a good opportunity for some mob-related stories to collide.
Whatever the case, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will follow through on a promise she made.
Carly vowed to be there for Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) and Donna Corinthos (Ava Rose) before school and before bed, so she should come through for the girls despite her issues with Sonny.
Although Sonny will keep hoping for reconciliation, Carly insisted that wasn’t possible until he killed Nina off in his heart.
Of course, that’s easier said than done for Sonny, so his problems with Carly won’t be resolved anytime soon.
Unfortunately, those problems could get even worse due to Sonny being off is meds.
Sonny keeps ignoring reminders about getting another lithium prescription, so this is bound to spell trouble.
Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) will battle concerns about Sonny and how he’s coping, so he may see some warning signs.
However, Dante may chalk Sonny’s behavior up to stress and pain without realizing a dangerous situation is playing out.
Sonny definitely needs those meds or else he could spin out of control!
Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) wake will ultimately get underway at The Haunted Star, so it seems Sonny and Carly will come together for that.
There’ll be a warm moment or two, but that obviously won’t be enough to fix things between them.
Over with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), she’ll turn to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) for a favor.
Laura Collins (Genie Francis) will also spend some time catching up with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) at The Savoy, so that should bring a conversation about Luke as well as Curtis’ daddy drama.
Curtis got some of the answers he needed from Marshall, but he couldn’t score the name of the mob player that had such a tight grip on his father.
That’s something that’ll continue to worry Curtis, who wants all the facts so he can protect his family.
Marshall will head to GH in hopes of tracking down Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy), so this may be about some last-minute gig he has in mind.
In the meantime, Drew will meet up with Curtis for a strategy session and could perhaps help him see more answers about Marshall’s mob past.
Later, Curtis will be rather nervous as he awaits updates. We’ll also see Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) make a scary discovery – perhaps related to the revenge plot that’s afoot!
Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy), Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and even Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) could be coming for Brooke in a big way soon enough.
Until then, Brook Lynn’s relationship with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) will continue to shift – hopefully for the better since it’s obvious these two are into each other romantically.
Liz will also discuss her own romantic developments with Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) as they do the same.
Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) will keep searching for the peace she needs, but trying to find it on her own could prove to be a bad idea.
Could Sasha turn to drugs again as she seeks comfort? Sasha is a real mess over losing Liam Corbin despite the brave face she’s trying to put on, so there’s the potential for her to head back down a terrible road.
Back with Maxie, she’ll become even more distressed over this whole situation with Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) and the threat Peter August (Wes Ramsey) still poses.
The fact that Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) knows the truth will only add to Maxie’s panic at the thought of the truth coming out too soon.
Carly will also get a surprise visitor while Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) reflects on the past.
Finn will recall his actions in some particular situation, so he might think back to nearly killing Peter in the GH stairwell.
Regardless, some stunning news is headed Cameron and Liz’s way. Could that involve more insight into who decided to gaslight Liz with her wedding ring?
That’s one option to consider, but it’s also possible there’ll simply be another gaslighting incident to raise concerns.
There’s even a chance Cam and Liz’s shocker will tie in with Jeff Webber (last played by Richard Dean Anderson) – that is if the writers haven’t dropped that story by now.
In the meantime, there’ll be some mysterious confrontation that escalates at Charlie’s Pub, so we’ll see just how bad things get!
