General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap review for the week of October 31-November 4 reveals that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) needed and still needs a love life overhaul. Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) were also doomed from the start, so let’s talk about some dud love stories.
For starters, GH writers really need to move things along when it comes to Austin Gatlin Holt’s (Roger Howarth) storyline.
Fans don’t know much more than they did when Mason (Nathanyael Grey) first appeared on the canvas other than Austin’s family is forcing him into criminal activities.
Of course, Maxie has already been burned way too many times by secret-keepers.
Austin and Maxie arguably don’t have chemistry – nor do they really have a reason to connect.
This has always been a forced pairing, so let’s hope all this is building to a breakup.
Maxie pushed Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) not to give up on love, but viewers know he’s pining for Maxie and has been for quite some time.
Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher) wants her parents back together, so maybe some fun-parent trapping will happen somewhere down the line.
Unfortunately, Austin and Maxie aren’t the only forced pairing on canvas. We’ve also got Drew and Carly, but now they have this unnecessary insider trading obstacle that’s forcing them to sneak around.
Many fans don’t want to see Carly and Drew together in the first place, so it’s tough to care about them being kept apart!
Besides, it doesn’t make sense for Drew to be such a key player at Aurora Media and have to ask Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) whether this constitutes insider trading. Shouldn’t Drew have known that from the get-go?
Regardless, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) is just as tied to this storyline.
What does it matter if Carly is romantically involved with Drew when Michael is literally her son? If the argument is distance from the situation is better, Carly can’t get out of her family connection to Michael.
It just seems like everything about Drew and Carly’s pairing is orchestrated in an awkward way instead of happening naturally.
On the bright side, it was nice to see Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Baldwin) get a chance to shine in those Monterey scenes.
Although the Reiko Finn (Mele Ihara) rewrite isn’t great, at least Elizabeth is getting some focus – and Herbst is getting a stellar Daytime Emmy reel!
General Hospital spoilers say Liz’s past will push her down an interesting new path, so stay tuned.
