General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) will apparently face a cancer crisis, so Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) will help with this pregnant patient’s next steps.
Willow knows her white blood cell count is elevated, but she doesn’t know why just yet. Although TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) seems to suspect what’s wrong, he isn’t ready to disclose that info.
It’d be irresponsible for TJ to worry Willow over a gut feeling, so it’s best to wait on the new test results.
That won’t stop Willow from pressuring TJ to tell her what he’s thinking – friend to friend and colleague to colleague.
Willow wasn’t able to pry anything out of TJ before, but she’ll once again push him to just give her some idea of what she might be up against.
TJ may be spared from having to guess since the follow-up test results will come in soon after.
Once Willow learns her diagnosis, she’ll meet with Terry and Britt at GH to discuss a treatment plan.
Willow will certainly be concerned about her pregnancy and how this health news will affect her baby.
Naturally, Dr. Randolph’s involvement is a tipoff to a cancer storyline of some sort.
Terry is an oncologist and will work with OB-GYN Britt to determine the best course of action.
Willow might need a specialist beyond Terry at some point, but Dr. Randolph will be a good doctor to use here initially since Willow knows and trusts her.
Elevated white blood cell count can be an indicator of leukemia and other cancers related to blood and bone marrow.
The show seems to be headed in that direction, so Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) may turn out to be a good transplant match and become Willow’s bone marrow donor.
Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) may land in a tight spot since she knows about Nina’s biological link to Willow.
This secret has to come out one way or another, so some medical drama should set the stage for the big reveal.
In the meantime, Willow will try to stay calm, focus on her unborn child and do everything she can to get healthy again.
Britt and Terry will do their part to help, but Nina could end up becoming the hero of the story down the road.
