Its Halloween! Shauna loves the holiday because she loves dressing up and unfortunately her relationship with Halloween is complicated because of her appearance. She does have the appearance of a child. Yet, she can’t wear adult costumes because its sometimes too big for her. She can’t wear kids costumes because they’re too childish. She often has to find costumes that she can edit herself and that’s top of being constantly mistaken for a child. Like there’s people who will stare if they see her in adult costumes because they didn’t think a “child” should wear it. Shauna also has panic attacks whenever its gets too much for her. And she had one in the costume store after she tried on several costumes just to feel like nothing was ever going to fit.

Shauna’s mother helped her. Her mother is used to it and she knows what to do in the situation. Shauna was able to find a costume she likes. She can modify it to fit herself. She also later talked to her family about moving out and she got an attitude when they mentioned valid questions. Shauna doesn’t have a job. She can’t afford to live by herself financially. Nevermind, everything else that will go into it. Shauna’s parents and her sisters had questions. They know that Shauna wants to be independent and that she wants to prove that she can take care of herself but find a job first. Don’t talk about moving out in six months when the finances aren’t there.

Shauna especially hated the questions when they came from her sister Tara. Shauna resents that Tara gets to do everything age appropriate and she can’t. Shauna wants to be living on her own. She wants a relationship with a nice guy. She wants to feel twenty-two and unfortunately her situation will always impede her. Shauna also has been having migraines. Anything can bring on a migraine. She got one after getting hit in the head by a box and she was in pain for a while. Shauna does have a history of brain cancer and so a migraine can never just be a migraine. She has to get herself checked out.

Shauna booked an appointment with a neurologist. She brought along her mom and they were both reassured that the physical exam hasn’t shown anything worrisome. The doctor thought the migraines could be a mixture of stress as well as the situation. Shauna said she would try to be calm. Only she admitted that her mother can sometimes be one of her stressors. Shauna also can be a real brat if she doesn’t get her way and she gets worked up fairly easy. Take the costume thing. She knew going into it like she has with everything else that it wasn’t going to be easy. She selected a costume. She had it pinned when she went home and she thought she looked like a hooker.

Shauna’s family tried to help but she proceeded to snap at them over a situation not of their making. Shauna’s family were used to and her sister has even said she comes to expect this behavior from Shauna. Shauna’s temper tantrum was just something they needed to hold her hand through. After it was done, Shauna was ready to go out in her costume. She and her family went out in costumes and had fun on the miniature golf course. They also had a pumpkin carving competition for family game night. They’ve had to stop family game night in the past because things got too competitive. And so its always good when they bring it back because people are on their best behavior then.

Shauna later heard from her matchmaker. Her date with Abraham went well and things fizzled out between them because neither of them wanted to go there. Shauna was still looking for a long-term relationship. She admits she’s never had a healthy long-term relationship before. She wants one now and her matchmaker feels like she found the perfect person for Shauna. The guy she was thinking of also had childhood cancer that stopped his growth. He’s not more than five feet tall. He’s also twenty-two. He and Shauna have a lot in common and he could be the perfect guy for her. And so she agreed to meet him.

Looking back, Shauna realizes she’s learned a lot this past season. She’s hopeful for the future and she couldn’t wait to meet the perfect guy.

THE END!
