In tonight’s NCIS Hawai’i episode, Lucy’s relationship with Whistler is going well. They were dating. They were able to enjoy coffee with each other and not have to worry about what it means. Lucy doing just that when work intervened. NCIS was asked to assist HPD with an internal matter. They were investigating HPD Detective Roy Burr. He was a veteran of fifteen years in the Narcotics squad.

He recently helped in a joint task force to take down a man named Santos and Santos was a notorious drug dealer. He was also once a criminal informant. Santos would snitch on rival drug dealers and then absorb their territory quality so that no one would get suspicious and it worked for a while. Up until the joint task force. The Navy agreed to process the drugs in the bust while the police department was supposed to hold onto the rest of the evidence.

Somehow that evidence was recently wiped clean. It was all erased off of hard drives and HPD suspected Burr’s involvement. It was Burr who turned Santos into an informant. Those two worked together for years. Burr was suspected in helping Santos escape the charges because without that evidence the District Attorney refused to press charges. Which NCIS wasn’t happy about. They did all that work and now it was for nothing. They wanted another way to take down both Santos and whoever helped him so they looked into Burr. They were quietly following him as he entered a Chinese market that turned out to be a front for an underground casino.

Kai watched as Burr got into an argument with someone at the casino. He then looked at his phone and he went outside. He was outside for little more than a minute when a drive-by shooter took him out. Everyone suspected Santos was involved. They found out that Burr received a text message from a burner phone telling him to come outside and so he was lured to his death. It had to be Santos. Santos was the only one who would want Burr dead now that he’s no longer going to prison and Burr’s usefulness has been worn out. But Burr’s death also gave them an opening. Burr was a member of a select poker game and his spot will need to be filled now that he’s dead.

The team needed a poker player. Lucy stepped up. She was a great poker player and, while she’s never played an in-person game or with cash, she was still a great player. She was also as close as they could get in a hurry. They gave her backstory. They claimed she was a trust fund kid from Texas. They gave her the ten thousand she needed to buy into the game. The rest was up to Lucy. Lucy managed to win over some of the other players. It didn’t hurt that she was dressed up to the nines as a Texas Cinderella. Lucy looked great and she was super focused on the job because she didn’t want to remember walking on Whistler and Whistler’s girlfriend from DC.

Lucy wanted to instead focus on work. But she was off her game. Lucy played the ditzy southern belle to perfection at first and then she started to win the games. She was only winning because she needed to be by Santos’s side long enough to clone his cell phone. The plan was working when Lucy went to the bathroom to check on the cloner device and felt a gun pressed to the back of her head. Santos became suspicious after she started winning. He suspected that she was a cop and her plan was to fob him off with an excuse, but then another poker player walked in and interrupted them. Lucy knocked out Santos. She ran off with a judge who saved her life by interrupting them and they were making a run for it with Santos’s people not far behind.

Lucy hadn’t been allowed to bring in her cell phone for the poker game. The team was alerted to the problem when they failed to notice neither her nor the judge returning to the poker table and so they went after them. But they didn’t need to worry about Lucy. She was able to take out Santos all on her own and unfortunately that’s the moment that the judge pulled his weapon. It seems that everyone involved in the poker game has washed each other’s hands. And Lucy would have ben in trouble if her team hadn’t chosen that precise moment to come to the rescue.

Lucy was saved and she was told about the great job she did, but none of that seemed to matter as long as her girlfriend was seeing another woman.

THE END!
