In tonight’s NCIS Hawai’i Special Agent in Charge Tennant was forced to investigate her beloved friend Maggie. Maggie was such a huge factor in her life that Tennant’s kids called her Aunt Maggie and Tennant introduces her as family. However, Maggie was suspected to be helping Bao. Bao was a title belonging to a Chinese MSS operative who goes around implanting their initiatives on foreign soil and this person has been known to kill people as well as commits act of terrorism. Tennant felt for sure that Maggie was working with Bao. Its why she misidentified a member of Bao’s team for the man himself and this was evidence enough to Tennant because they worked in the CIA together. She knows that Maggie doesn’t make mistakes.

Tennant felt so sure that she enlisted her whole team in assisting her. They also brought in DIA Special Agent Whistler for this secret operation and it was cleared with FBI. They were supposed to bring down a traitor. They even got help from Sola. He stayed on the Island rather than go back to New Zealand because he was on the hunt for Bao and he thinks Bao might still be on the island. The best way to get to Bao was through Maggie. Tennant knew for sure that Maggie was a spy. Maggie still has her clearance at CIA and she was smart. She very well maintained her cover. Tennant had Maggie brought in while they searched her house.

Tennant later told Maggie that they found several pictures of the real Bao. The dead cop that they killed couldn’t have been Bao and so Maggie played along. She knew they didn’t have her. She also knew that the flash drive at her house was heavily encrypted. It would take the team weeks if not months to crack. Tennant had her team follow Maggie after she left their office. They followed her to a bakery where she ordered a cake. They followed her from there to a busy shopping center and she handed off the bag with the cake someone. It was Bao. The team followed this guy and they noticed that he dropped the bag.

The cake said “run”. Maggie knew they were onto her and she sent a message to Bao to get off the island. The team chased after Bao. They almost had him at one point and Tennant was about to shoot him when Maggie stopped her. Maggie knocked the gun out of Tennant’s hands. This allowed Bao to get away and so Maggie was arrested. She was later interrogated. She never revealed anything about why she turned traitor. It wasn’t until Tennant put the pieces together that she realized why Maggie did what she did. Maggie once revealed to her that she had a son. She gave birth during a long-term operation in China. And that her son was sick.

He had a rare blood disorder. Maggie went to a specialist to get him treatment when it turned out to be a trap and she was arrested. She was later told that her family were killed. She was deported back to the United States after America negotiated her release. Years later, after she met Tennant, she told her the story about how she grieves on Mother’s Day. Tennant never forgot the story and after they tested the blood they had of Bao they were able to determine that he suffers from a rare blood disorder. Tennant put two and two together. She determined Bao was Maggie’s son. And so she questioned Maggie.

Tennant made a big show of turning off the cameras when secretly she was wearing one. She got Maggie to confess to helping Bao because he was her son and so Maggie told her the rest of her story. After she was deported, her son was taken in by his father’s family. He was made to grow up in shame for having traitorous parents. Bao was then told after he graduated from college about how he could be of use to the cause. It was his job to turn Maggie. He was able to do so easily and it didn’t hurt that Maggie purposely distanced herself from her best friend. She told Tennant to take a stateside job. She made it out that it would be best for her family.

Tennant listened. She took the job and Maggie no longer had a trained agent who knew her too well working with her. But why was Bao still on the island? The team knew he couldn’t be sticking around for Maggie and that he must be on the island for something. They realized he was connected to a data breach of a joint intelligence task force. The team later found Bao and Maggie somehow convinced Tennant to let him go. Maggie agreed to testify to everything she ever did for Bao. She even said she was the real Bao. Maggie used her clearance to basically spy for China. She did all the work and her son took all the credit with his people.

Maggie was handed over to the FBI. She agreed to tell them everything believing her son got away. Maggie doesn’t know that the New Zealander was following her son and that he was never going to get back to China with the information he stole.

Tennant then had to break the news to her kids that their Aunt Maggie won’t be coming around anymore.

THE END!
