A social media influencer was abducted in broad daylight. The influencer’s name is Gia Michele. She was the daughter of Linda Burke and Burke was the American ambassador to Lebanon. Her mother set up the red flag when her daughter failed to appear or post anything in hours. The State Department got involved. They turned to Kilbride’s team to locate her. At the time, no one knew about the kidnapping. They just knew she was missing. The team checked her last post that seemed like she had gotten into an accident and so they checked the hospitals. They also talked to people who worked for her. They found out Gia doesn’t have a driver’s license. She has a driver for that and she poses with cars just for the photo. And not because she’s going to use them.
They also learned that Gia recently got a scooter. She was driving that around when she got into her accident and the “accident” was in fact the kidnapping. The team hadn’t known anything until someone posted on Gia’s social media a ransom demand. It was a video of Gia saying that she had been kidnapped and that her kidnappers were demanding ten million dollars in bitcoin for her safe release. Of course, some thought it could be a hoax. It would be damaging to Gia’s mother if it was and at the same time they had to operate as if it wasn’t. They had to find Gia. There were several problems with doing that.
One of the problems is that Gia has a lot of enemies. There were plenty of people who hated her online because of who she is and the fact that she’s making millions. There were some who claimed that Gia was stealing content from them. Thereby implying that any endorsements she gets should have been rightfully theirs. They were also people that were just sick enough to start an online campaign the moment they saw the ransom video to raise enough money to convince her captors to kill her. The team found out about it after it happened and they couldn’t technically stop it. If they did, others would crop up in place.
The campaign in favor of Gia’s execution was quickly gaining steam. It was getting more money faster than the one to save her. It was started on the dark web by a bunch of incels and those are the guys who felt women weren’t having sex with them because there’s something wrong with beautiful women and not with them. Their online campaign was also in bitcoin. Bitcoin is hard to track until someone tries to convert it into real money. By then, however, it would be too late to save Gia. There’s no telling if her kidnapper will release her the moment they get the money. They could always kill her anyways and so finding her was important.
Sam and Callen looked at Gia’s biggest “fan” because trolls are sometimes the biggest fans than actual fans. They found Jaxon King and he tried to run when they confronted him. They had to chase after him and they brought Jaxon in for questioning. Jaxon claimed to have no part in Gia’s kidnapping. He was just a hater. He was fine with doing it online as long as he could keep it online. He was an incel. They questioned him about another incel that popped up in the investigation. Someone by the name of Last Gentleman. He was another man who felt rejected by women and he’s been stalking several female celebrities.
His real name is Curtis Jenkins. Kensi and Deeks went home because the paparazzi’s last photos of Gia had him in them and so they hoped to find her stashed at his house. Only he wasn’t there. Jenkins lives with his mother. His mother found a note in his room addressed to her in which he says goodbye and admits he kidnapped Gia. The two agents found the note around the same time that the campaign to kill her more than the ten million to save her. It was actually going over the limit as they were talking to his mom, but they got enough information from her to locate Curtis and they later got to Gia before she could be killed.
They prevented Curtis from killing her by taking away his internet. He didn’t want to kill her without an audience and so that forced him outside to try and get reception and that’s when the team made their move. They got Gia away from him. They even talked Curtis down before he could kill himself as he wanted.
But the theory is that it won’t take Gia long before she returns to the internet.
