In tonight’s NCIS Los Angeles episode, a trio of armed thieves robbed a high-end art storage facility. They snuck in by hiding in one of the shipments and they grabbed all that they could. They manage to escape in under five minutes. They also shot someone as they were escaping. Now, this normally wouldn’t be a case for NCIS, but it was this time because this facility was used by Katya Miranova and the heist happened right before their warrant to search the place went through. It couldn’t be a coincidence that this happened. Everyone believed that Kaya was somehow involved and so they took this case and they ran with it. They looked at security footage of the facility.
They found out how the thieves got in. Someone was only shot because it was highly suspicious of boxes going out of the facility. The security guard asked to read the manifest and a trigger happy thief got scared. The team looked into it. They first started by looking into the judge who delayed the warrant and that’s where when Reserve Agent Shyla Dahr came in. She was Killbride’s assistant. She came all the way from D.C. and she has enough clout for Killbride to use her in a case. Dahr was a good addition to the team. She understood Killbride better than anyone. She even jokes with him and so he finally had an equal there.
Killbride tends to look at the rest of the team as misbehaving children. He admires their work. He just doesn’t seem to respect them. But he respects Dahr. Dahr found out that someone used a deep fake of Callen’s face to talk the judge into sitting on the warrant. The fake Callen had told the poor woman that they were on a different case that took precedent and so the judge waited on the warrant because she thought an old friend was asking her for a favor. Only Callen never made the call. Dahr who had found out about the deep fakes had put the pieces together. She told the rest of the team.
They didn’t have time to worry about it because they later realized the heist was an inside job. The curator had helped the thieves plan the job and she did so because she was paid fifteen grand by a charming French guy. Kensi and Deeks passed this on to their contact. She told them about Gerard Dupont. He’s an old-school legend. He supposedly retired and he was living in LA. The team checked it out. They found out that Dupont’s daughter and her husband moved to LA during his stint in prison. He followed them out there once he was released so that he could be closer to his grandchild. And he quickly became a suspect in several high-profile robberies.
The team later ran into Dupont as they were tracking down the getaway car used in the heist. But the team’s evidence was all circumstantial. They couldn’t technically arrest Dupont for anything at the time and so they tried to needle him instead. They asked him what went wrong with this heist in particular. He’s never used guns before. Dupont replied that he never will use a gun. The shooter had to be someone else. The team went searching around his place and they later found a statue that he had stolen from an art gallery. This was enough to arrest Dupont for theft. They put him in material he couldn’t escape from and they questioned him.
Dupont eventually admitted he was hired to rob the facility. He never met the woman who hired him and so all he could give was a name. The name was an alias used by Katya. But there was a problem. Dupont had double-crossed Katya. He was supposed to drop off her items to her and instead he robbed the gallery for what its worth and sold it to a black market dealer. Dupont made a grave mistake by crossing Katya, but he was far from over because he went on to sell a forgery of a stolen painting to the dealer and so he risked Callen’s cover when Callen went to collect Katya’s things.
But Callen arrested the dealer. Dupont escaped and is now on the run from the feds as well as from Katya only Callen got what he wanted. He found Katya’s things. She had a film of her time in the Noble Maidens back in Russia and it was basically a video of young her being tortured by the program.
A program was similar to what Callen experienced as a child.
