In tonight’s second NCIS LA episode, Eric Beale sent the team handwritten letters. It turns out he gave them each ten thousand dollars. He also donated the same amount to their favorite charities and so his one request is that they use the money for something they’ve always wanted. Everyone started considering the possibilities. Even Admiral Kilbride was looking at noise-canceling headphones. Callen was still out of the office because he was taking some time off and that meant no one knew what he would do with his check. Though odds are he would spend it on his bid to look for Katya. Callen became obsessed with hunting Katya down and there’s no way he would take time off to just enjoy himself as long as she was out there.

But the rest of the team were all in a pretty good mood about the money. They were talking about it and getting excited. They were some that started shopping literally moments after looking online. The only thing that could have pulled their attention away from the money was the new case they caught. They were assisting the DEA with tracking down a whistleblower. The whistleblower was supposed to testify in front of a congressional hearing about guns that were being purchased legally in the United States and taken down to Mexico. The guns were getting into the hands of the cartel. The Mexican government wanted the Americans to put a stop it.

Hence this hearing. The Mexican government got the idea from the Sandy Hook lawsuit about going after the manufacturers and that’s what they’re trying to do. But the Americans also wanted this problem to stop. The one thing that both sides could agree on is that they didn’t want American guns getting in the hands of foreign nationals. Which is why they agreed to the hearing. They wanted to work with the Mexican government. The whistleblower was the only one who had inside information on what was going on and finding him was very important. It especially became important after the whistleblower’s DEA handler was murdered.

The poor guy had his head chopped off before being thrown off a building. The whistleblower went into hiding after that and no one can trace him. The whistleblower’s name is Marin Henderson. He was a former Navy. He worked for the Plutus company which was an American gun manufacturer. The team spoke to the head of the company and he denied knowing where Martin was. He also claimed that he had no idea how his guns were making it to Mexico. Admiral Kilbride had to personally twist this guy’s arm to get him to talk. He gave up a name. The name was Miguel Flores. Flores grew up in a hotbed of cartel country before he joined the American navy and eventually became a citizen.

Flores has since then been buying up guns to sneak them down into Mexico. He was doing so under the guise of selling hand-painted tile down there. He made trips to Mexico everyday. The team went to go talk to Flores and he tried to run. They were forced to throw him into the ocean to get him to give up. But once they did arrest him, Flores said he couldn’t help them. Flores’s whole family is still in Mexico and if the cartel heard he cooperated then they would kill his family and Flores couldn’t risk that. He wasn’t talking. He didn’t care what happened. He just wasn’t going to talk.

In spite of him not talking, Flores still know there was a risk the cartels would have him killed. Flores was connected to a house and he denied knowing what was inside. What was inside was a bunch of bodies. The bodies were hidden inside of the wall along with other things. Deeks and Kensi has to bring it down to the studs to reveal everything hidden inside. Admiral Killbride meanwhile worked with the gun manufacturer. He knew Carlyle knew more about this than he claimed. He, therefore, got the man so upset that he started spouting off information until his lawyer eventually killed him with a poisoned pen.

The lawyer had been someone the cartel sent to keep watch. But before she managed to kill Carlyle, he got upset. He said in frustration that this thing goes all the way up to dirty politicians as well as judges. It apparently couldn’t be stopped. No matter what the team did or what one whistleblower said. The team thought they were facing a losing battle when Sam managed to get through to Flores and tell them what he knew. He mentioned where the whistleblower was. They later went to go find him and unfortunately it was too late. They never got the whistleblower. Several men died and none it will help because Congress called off the hearing when the whistleblower failed to arrive.

But the whistleblower made a video before he died. He made a video detailing how gun manufacturers target the cartel. They did so in an effort to sell guns and it’s an epidemic. And so maybe the video will do what the others could not.

THE END!
