In tonight’s NCIS: Los Angeles episode, Callen hasn’t been the same since he met his childhood tormentor. Callen was part of a secret program in the United States that trained foster kids or tortured these children to see if they have “potential”. Callen was more or less tortured. He wanted answers about that program. But he couldn’t get any. The program was top secret and only Hetty knew everything. The same Hetty that went missing. The same Hetty that could be dead and so Callen had employed a former Russian spy to help him track her down. Callen was still waiting on answers from that. He was also driving himself crazy by trying to force himself to remember everything from his past.
Callen even ran into someone who looked like the doctor that experimented on him. It was enough to scare Callen and he refuses to discuss what happened with his fiancé, Anna. Anna was very attuned to his feelings. She knew that Callen was struggling. But she also knew he would come to her if he needs to. Anna didn’t confront Callen and Callen went to work like any other day. Callen checked in with his friends. He was asking Fatima about her mother when a case came in. NCIS has been asked to find a couple that was abducted from their home. The couple was Emmet and Lindsey Sandhagens. They have two kids, eight and ten, and thankfully the kids didn’t witness the abduction.
It was actually a neighbor who saw it all. She called it in and it was given to NCIS because the missing couple was Department Of Defense contractors. They have access to a lot of secret intel. Whoever took the couple most likely grabbed them in order to gain access to certain files or weapons prototypes. Thereby making it imperative that the couple is found. The team split up on this one to get more done. Kensi and Fatima drove to the facility where the couple worked. They talked to some of Sandhagens’s work colleagues. The coworkers mentioned that the couple was working on a command center that only they knew the location of and that can carry out a missile strike with over 300 missiles in stock.
Everyone was worried about that command center. They didn’t know if that was why the couple had been taken and so they suspected they were taken by terrorists set on committing an attack on US soil. The team began looking for the terrorists. They could find no trace of them. They next tried following the couple’s work when they spotted a discrepancy. It seems that someone has been accessing the Sandhagens’ computer while they were both away. The only person that could be was the nanny. The same nanny that witnessed the kidnapping. They looked into her. They determined that she was heavily in debt a few months ago and that that’s no longer the case.
The team brought the nanny to the boatshed for questioning. They interrogated her about college debt and they knew her mother was currently sick and so who helped pay off the student debt? The nanny told them how she met a guy at a bar. They got to talking and he offered to help her. All she had to do was get addresses from the Sandhagens’ computer. She didn’t know that they would abduct her employers or force them to gain access to the command center. But she gave Deeks and Callen what little information she had on the guy she spoke with. The name he gave her was Josh McCall. McCall’s place was deserted when they got there.
But that’s because he was at the command center. Kensi and Fatima went to the command center and they spotted Josh and his friend holding the couple hostage. The women were able to get the better of the two men. They brought them down and they freed the couple. The couple was later reunited with their children although now they have to look for a new nanny. Their old one got arrested for espionage. And while they may have closed their case, not everyone was happy about it being over.
Callen uses his time at work to forget about the unpleasant things from his childhood. But nothing could stop the nightmares or that it was causing to slowly create distance between himself and Anna.
