In tonight’s Station 19 episode, after that man attacked her, Andy fought back. She wounded the guy. She ran off to a place of safety. She went to Station 19 and her friends were there for her. They supported her. They got the details from her. Andy was even smart enough to suggest they check to see if the guy was still where she flattened him because she thought the guy might need the aide car and so the team followed her on this. They went to the bar’s parking lot. They found Jeremy unconscious on the ground. They gave him assistance and they were doing their best to keep him alive so that Andy doesn’t have to live with that.

So, that she doesn’t have to live with the knowledge that she killed someone. Even in self-defense. Andy did nothing but defend herself and still, she had to be treated as an aggressor when she reported it. She had been asked about everything that night. How much was she drinking? Who made the first move? All the details. The police wanted to know everything. Beckett notified the police once he found out what happened and he hadn’t wanted his team to treat Jeremy. He thought they were too close to the situation. They were friends and an ex-husband of this man’s victim. And so Beckett called in for another house to treat Jeremy.

If Jeremy dies, Beckett didn’t want to look like they made it so. The team continued to fight to keep Jeremy alive as they waited for a second aide car and in the meantime, Andy spoke to the police. She told them everything she remember. Which wasn’t all of it. She doesn’t remember how she got to Station 19 from the bar. She doesn’t remember running the whole way or the full details of the fight itself. The police also weren’t treating Andy with the respect she deserved. She picked up on it. She remembered that she could have an advocate with her and so she asked that Ben be allowed to sit with her during the interview.

The police took statements. They were just going to leave after that and so Ben had to remind them that there was more evidence to collect. Andy fought her attacker. She bit him. She punched him. Her body has evidence all over it and that evidence needed to be collected. Ben remembered that. Why didn’t the police? Carina was at the station because she and Maya had wanted to ask Jack to be their sperm donor. Carina being there meant the kit on Andy got to take place at the station. She didn’t have to go all the way to the hospital. She got to go through the kit in a safe place. And all the while she was doing it, she remembered her self-defense classes.

Andy had been a little kid at the time. She had just gotten into a fight with a little boy who pushed her and made her scrape her knee. She went running to her mother about afterwards it. Some of her family members had tried to say that the boy must like her and her mother hated that because nothing justifies violence. Then her mother remembered that a guy at her father’s station was a mixed martial arts fanatic. She asked this man to train her daughter and that’s how Andy was able to fight off her attacker in current times. The training sessions had caused a strain on her parents’ marriage.

They argued about whether or not Andy should have been given training sessions, to begin with. Her father hadn’t understood. Pruitt thought Andy should focus on her childhood and Andy’s mother thought all women should receive such training. She even admitted to her husband on the phone that things could have gone much differently if she had trained herself. Andy had overheard their conversation and she remembered it in her panicked state. But Andy did the test. She got evidence that this man attacked her. She also talked to Carina who reassured her that it was okay if she kissed this Jeremy and flirted with him. She had the right to change her mind at any time she wants.

Then she was later informed that Jeremy died. Her team did everything possible to save his life. They rushed him to Grey Sloane Memorial in spite of direct orders from their captain and it still wasn’t enough to save that creep’s life. He died. The cops stopped treating Andy as a victim. They started treating her as a suspect. They sent detectives to come back to talk to her and Andy was once again being disrespected. This time she had a name of a lawyer in her hand. It was given to her by a friend. She held onto it as she was being questioned the second time and she told them she wasn’t answering any more questions without her lawyer present.

The police apparently wanted to hold her accountable for not administering aid to Jeremy herself. They asked her why after she punched him didn’t she give him aid? They didn’t care that Andy was traumatized or that she ran for her life. Something she later remembered. The police just cared about how she saw a man in distress and didn’t help him. She instead left him to die. The police were dismissed from the station by Andy and later Beckett. He told them to put everything through official channels. And so they couldn’t question his team without going through Seattle Fire Department.

Beckett wasn’t there for his team when it counted. Only, he still hadn’t forgiven Sullivan. Sullivan reported him to Chief Ross. He also went against a direct order when he rushed Jeremy to the hospital rather than wait on a second aide car. Beckett thought he could play games with Sullivan. Sullivan warned him why that would be a mistake.

And later, the police arrested Andy for manslaughter.

THE END!
