In tonight’s Station 19 episode, what Maya did was wrong. Maya knew it. Captain Beckett knew it. She gave an alcoholic liquor as a gift because she was hoping to sabotage him and take his job. She has stooped to a new low. Maya hasn’t told anyone what she did. She hasn’t even talked to her wife. She and Carina were experiencing marital problems because Carina wanted Maya to go to therapy. Carina believed that Maya could get better with therapy. She said it would help Maya with all of her anger and she might have been right about that, but Maya was fighting this the whole way there. She was angry she lost her job. She was no longer captain and she was taking it out on the people that loved her. And this episode opened with her being cold to her own wife.

Everyone other than a handful hadn’t known the full truth. They didn’t know why Maya was in trouble. They bought Andy’s story that Maya heroically tried to defend Andy’s job. They, therefore, didn’t know that Maya tried to blackmail the new Fire Chief and get her own job back. Plus, Maya was in no rush to tell them the truth. She was afraid of being judged and so she let Andy’s lie stand. Maya later went on a call with Ben. Ben tried to talk to her about her problems with Carina only Maya didn’t want to go there. Maya was still angry that Carina said she needs therapy. She was also angry that Carina came to doubt having a baby with her because she felt Maya was too angry.

Maya told Ben she didn’t want to talk about it. They took a Crisis One call. They responded to a domestic dispute at a house they recognized and it turns out they knew the homeowners. It was Dixon and his wife Kitty. The couple got into an argument. They began yelling at each other and there was the sound of breaking glass. The Dixons’ neighbors called 911. The police gave this to Crisis One. Probably because Dixon was a big name in the Seattle Police Department. But they gave it to the firefighters and Maya and Ben treated this case like any other. They knocked on the door. They greeted Kitty. And they asked her if she was alright.

Kitty was drunk. She didn’t know what time of day it was. She began complaining about how her favorite liquor store no long delivers and Maya found the broken window. There was no sign of Dixon. The Crisis One team thought he must have stormed off after he broke the window. Then again they assumed it was him that broke the window and that wasn’t so. After Maya approached her with offers of helping her get out of a bad situation, Kitty admitted that she broke the window. Kitty said she broke it because her husband was pathetic. Kitty also admitted that Dixon was running for mayor on her dime.

Dixon never managed to raise money for his campaign. Kitty was funding it all. She’s funding their whole lifestyle. Kitty comes from money. She married Dixon as part of a rebellious stage when she was younger and now she lives to torture her husband with that decision. She makes him feel worthless. He yells at her for being drunk. Dixon later returned to the house. He hated seeing Crisis One there. He told them he couldn’t wait to shut down their program once he became mayor. He got into another argument with his wife. She threw a vase. It hit Dixon. They had to treat the cut on his head and they treated the cut on Kitty’s hand.

The couple didn’t want to file a report. They soon made up. They were happy with being toxic. Maya and Ben eventually left. Ben tried to bring up Carina again and Maya said she was dealing with her marriage in her own way. Which Ben reminded her was exactly what Dixon said before they left. Maya was thinking about that while the rest of the team was responding to a car fire. Someone hacked a car while a teen was using it. He borrowed it without permission. He wanted to impress a girl he liked and they both almost died. They breathed in the fumes of an over-exhausted engine. And they had to be rescued from the car.

The firefighters had to break the windows to free the teens. They also sprayed the car with water because the engine sparked into an actual fire and they were afraid of an explosion. The car was an electric vehicle. It was also very expensive. The kid driving it had been worried his father would lord this situation over his head for the rest of his life. His new girlfriend told him that toxic masculinity was so over. She supported him when he called his dad. It was his dad who hacked the car. He noticed it was gone. He thought someone stole it. He accessed it. He stopped it. He also didn’t care that his son almost died from it.

The dad later showed up in person at the scene. He brought along a tow truck. Andy tried to warn him that the car was too hot to be moved and the dad refused to listen. He got the car up on the tow truck. It caught fire and it exploded in toxic gas. It was dangerous for everyone to breathe that in. Captain Beckett spoke with the manufacturer. They told him the best way for the fire to die is to just let it burn. He agreed with that decision and he told his team that. Andy hadn’t liked the idea. She tried to keep watering it and they cut off her water. Andy wasn’t really angry about the car. She was mad that Jack was in a crisis and that their captain didn’t want to do anything to stop it.

It took five hours for that car to stop smoking. In the end, Andy realized what she had to do. She reminded her friends that they were family at Station 19 and that Jack needed their help. It didn’t matter if Beckett didn’t want to be a part of it. They were a family without it and so they went by the house where Jack was staying. And they helped him patch up his roof.

Jack was going through things and he needed to know that he’ll be supported no matter what.

Maya also let the cat out of the bag. She told Montgomery that they responded to a domestic call at Dixon’s house and she shouldn’t have done that. She broke HIPPA laws by doing that. And yet Montgomery now has ammunition against his opponent in the mayor race.

THE END!
